Learn the differences between in classroom and online learning

Smaller groups for synchronous meetings helps keep the conversation understandable while message boards or other asynchronous meetings allow for exposure to more varied viewpoints and allows students more time for well thought out responses

I appreciate the clarity of recommendations for sychronus vs. asynchronus activities.  I wonder if the number of students that function well in a synchronus setting might change based on the availability of a break out session like zoom has?

A teacher is a catalyst in discussion forums.  Both synchronous and asynchronous meetings are important is student learning, but asynchronous is more effective in online learning.

Remember, while students may be more tech savy than you, they are typically not as conversational savy- they may not easily be drawn into technical conversations about a class topic- engage them, nudge them into it, Try to avoid having one or two students take over a conversation- either online, or in the classroom...

The words (asynchronous/snychronous) are new to me in teaching students.  I just realized that when I am teaching on the Big Blue Button, I am using synchronous discussions.  Some students particpate and some students never wrote anthing in the chat box.  What an eye opener.  I understand these two new terms and how to use them for online learning.

For the past few weeks of remote learning we have had division meetings (Google Meets) of a varying number of participants.  Groups have beeen as small as three and as large as 40.  Synchronous discussions are benficial for sharing information and getting feedback from smaller groups--I would say five or less.  Asynchronous discussions are better for larger groups.  I suggested the later for our division meetings in lieu of a synchronous discussion.  It was chaos when we tried to have a Google Meet with 15-16 people.

Fostering participation in asynchronous and synchronous discussions is important. Feedback should be given in a way that does not destroy it dignity of the learner.

A teacher has to be careful when proving feedback to e-learners so he/she will not damage the student's dignity.

I learned the difference between asynchronous and synchronous discussions.

The information describing the difference between Asynchronous and Synchronous discussion was helpful. The information gave me helpful advice on how to manage course discussions.

I am reminded that participation, confidence, and motivation are key driving forces to encourage student participation.

I learned that asynchronous communication is better than synchronous communication on an online seeing because it allows all learning types to interact and learn the content while thinking more deeply about what they have read and what they have learned.

In this module I was albe to recognize several students according to their learning styles. The module also helped with strategies to improve their engagement in OL courses.

Learn to promote interaction among learners using different methods. Know when and how to incorporate synchronous and asynchronous activities that promote learning.

Stay engaged with students. Answer questions in a timely manner. Allow student to ask questions without revealing their identity to other students. Have students give teacher feed back.

I have learned that the concepts in this section, in particular, feel dated.  With the recent increase of video-conferencing, the idea of mostly asynchronous teaching may be best for some types of courses but others, especially with young students, require a continued face-to-face format.

Our goal is to build the students up with encouragement and use constructive criticism with emoji or lol symbals in order not to bruise the student. Build a better community of healthcare workers!

Asynehrounous discussions can be viewd as the heart of on line courses.  I learned that these discussions are for everyone and help engage all students in participating.   Synchronous discussions are in real time and invovle 1-5 students.  Feedback is important but in grading and or critiquing a student's work it should always be done in a synchronous discussion of 1 on 1.

I believe it is important to establish an interactive relationship with each individual student. This will get them to buy in. I think its important for the student to know that your invested in their success as well.
