A Rubric should provide specific outcomes for the course, as well as guidelines for communication and expectations.
For students to succeed in an online environment that must have the proper traits, and have self motivation and discipline.
Establish communication standards, guidelines, policies to make sure the class is structured and organized so all students understand what is expected of them. Also what is acceptable and not in the virtual classroom and course.
Communication is the most important factor in getting a student to understand. Make sure you are vetting all options and choose the best for your class.
I have learned you must adapt your course to an online environment that makes it easier for the student to understand the information you are wanting them to retain.
We must identify our facilitation approach, understand our roles as a facilitator, develop a plan and assess that plan through out the time teaching this course.
It is important to decide a teaching method between synchronous and asynchronous, but can even have a combination of both. Then choosing a teaching pattern that works for our courses and students
We need to identify possible technology tools, asses them, and choose the appropriate tech for our individual courses and teaching style.
Make sure you revise and evaluate your course over time and make improvements based on the feedback of your students peers and self.
Give positive feedback, and avoid overanalyzing and commenting too much on your feedback on an assignment.
