I want to focus on motivating my students by putting emphasis on the future possibilities for they can achieve for themselves, family, etc. I want to make the content relatable to my students through my personal expertise along side using their individual expertise to encourage them.
Students need to find the course, material and instruction of content engaging on a consistent basis. They will get bored if things are always the same. A great way is to keep them on their toes with different forms of activities and different types of challenges to their knowledge base, investigative and problem solving skills to contribute to their ability to learn as well as their peers.
My interactions with my peers and students matter just as much as the studetnts' interactions with me, each other, and the course material in creating a smooth flow to the classroom that is most conducive to learning and success.
At the beginning of a new class, start I can request that each student write down what motivates them, why they enrolled, and what they feel that they need to be successful.
Social media posts and assignments can be designed to make the students think more critically for themselves and learn to ask questions then problem-solve.
Assignments need to be specific with detailed direction and expectations.
My students currently create their own media to post on their student instagram pages. I want to make different rubrics to grade the different types of content being posted such as the stories, posts, reels, carousels, etc.
Rubrics should be specific to really inform what the expectations are to the student. I intend to break my rubric down into more specific sections and more defined assignments within the given project without allowing much room for options outside of the creativity and knowledge applied.
