Due to this pandemic situation, the school I work at has gone to complete online learning

I have learned many things from this experience centered on this subject. I have made a point to make sure I know the content and how it should be delivered to the students for ease of undrstanding, but also making it easy for them to navigate the content

The instructor must be knowledgeable regarding the topics that they are teaching; they may have some areas they are not as familiar with as others and may need to refresh their understanding of these topics.  Additionally, they must look at the learning environment as the learning does; be familiar with the platform and be able to answer questions on navigation through this particular course management system.

I like this module so far. I've been asked by other colleges to teach online with NO guidance. This is helpful!

It is very important to familiarize with the CMS use at our institution and how it  is organized so we can support our students and also be able to answer to questions they will have.

I found it helpful to know all of the criteria I needto be aware of as I'm preparing to teach a class even though I might be an expert in the subject

As a online instructor I need to know how to view assignments and to be able to keep track of what the students are doing during the couses.

I also need to know how to set up a course and when to open and close a course

I will have virtual meetings with the whole class invited to drop in. It will be less formal than office hours more like a coffee chat.  This will allow for students to get to meet with me and we can discuss isses, and ideas.

In some ways, what I do for an online class is what I have been doing for face-to-face courses.

However, there is a difference in seeing how students emottionally react to certain assignments. For me, that is the hardest part of teaching online: I cannot always see the emotional responses of my students. Thus, I cannot react to students as quickly without doing some journalling or non-quantitative assessments.

Knowledge of the online content

This first sections establishes the basic consideration an instrutor must take before instructing

I think that with on line learning you must have more suporrt.more than ever so that they feel like if they get lost that they can catch back up.

Given the same goals for a course, different instructors are likely to take different approaches to teach towards those goals.

I have learned the CMS management system, review class rosters as well as view student profiles . find out about turnaround times for student inquiries. conditions underwhich you can grant extensions. find a expert in technology and software mulfunctions .instrructional straties.

I will better familiarize myself with the CMS to provie the best education and support possible for students in an online environment

Understanding the student needs and embracing the CMS

It is important for students and the instructors to have a complete cycle of communication for a course to be successful. As I add online teaching to my repertoire, I have to ensure that communication is easy and open. I must understand if students have questions or need additional support. I should be able to provide that support or know who can.

This was definitely helpful. Understanding what goes into a face to face course, and an online course and the difference is very important. The interaction with the students must be more - blogs, email, video and/or phone chats; these are all important tools in the virtual world to assist the students.

I haven't learned anything new as this is a platform I have been using in my classes for some time.

I learned that we have to even more organised and structure our lessons in a logical way where students can access the contents and online activities easily. Teachers should be familiarised with te online learning environment and technology in order to maximise learning and teaching online.

Reviewing the course and expectations with students on day 1 is paramount. Also ensuring they can navigate it, this will change if you only have returning students, only new or a mix.
