I have found that daily discussionpost are great ways to stay in touch. With small personal responses back to the students let them know you are listening.

Sometimes adding a personal piece of yourself shows your students you care.

Online learning plays a key role in todays society. It is important as an instructor  that you know the material and also know how to navigate through the content.
