I learned how important it is to make a strong first impression by greeting students and learning their names right away. I also found the idea of using a diagnostic pretest very useful, and I plan to adapt it into a quick creative activity for my fashion and design classes. Overall, I want my students to feel that the course will be valuable, achievable, and supportive from day one.
I already implement most of these things in the class however I was intrigued about giving pretests.
I have learned the importance of providing some information background of my work experience and find out the student's as well. This helps to incorporate of a supportive and comfortable environment on the first day.

You can also motivate students by setting reasonable expectations based on industry standards also by giving them a clear picture of the course, what the expectations and learning process will be, but most important to motivate them and get them excited about their future.

I've learned how important it is to give clear expectations and objectives for the course, to take the mystery out of the "unknowns". To lay out a clear path that shows the students how they will move forward towards their goals, and to encourage the students that these goals and their success is attainable. Creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm, safety, and connection is key.
It is a good idea to calm the nerves on day one. Go around the class and take turns sharing something about each other.

One thing I learned in this section is to ensure every student feels like they can be part of the class especially by introducing themselves and stating something about themselves and what they hope to gain out of the semester. In addition, I will be introducing myself and telling the class something about my background and experience to develop a rapport with them.
