Make learning fun and exciting, helping them include their own experience.

Create an atmosphere where students will be able to connect their life experiences to what is learnt in the classroom. Make them feel free to take risks, make mistakes in class and help them by correcting them in a caring way. Do not embarrass them for any reason but let them feel appreciated for their efforts

As a semi new instructor, I have learned that showing passion for what is being taught keeps them interested longer in each subject.

I have learned that the reinforcement is the important part of the teaching process.

Great teachers inspire learning and use a variety of strategies to ensure students retain and apply their learning in different contexts.

Get to know your students and be excited about your content

It is very important to be prepared and to know your students.

Dont scare or intimidate students being demanding.Teach with enthusiasm and vigor.

It's important to prepare for classes and show enthusiasm for the subject that we're teaching so that students ar emore enganged

Creating and maintaining a learning environment when there are so many distractions will be a challenge but by helping students stay motivated, keeping course material relevant, and being dedicated to sharing knowledge will be vital in overcoming barriers to learning and fear of not making their goals.

I learned that students enter educational programs with a variety of motivations, ranging from building social relationships and meeting external expectations to pursuing personal advancement, giving back to the community, or simply learning for the sake of learning. Both younger and older learners bring unique perspectives, some seek validation or a fresh start in life, while others enroll out of curiosity or even boredom. Regardless of their reasons, recognizing these different motivations allows instructors to better engage students by connecting coursework to their personal goals and needs.

I also learned that career education students share common traits that instructors should address: they are goal-oriented, relevancy-oriented, and practical. They want clear pathways to their objectives, meaningful applications of what they learn, and practical skills they can use immediately. Student motivation is strengthened through reinforcement, retention, and transference. By using consistent positive reinforcement, instructors not only help learners master skills step by step but also build their confidence and engagement. This highlights the importance of designing courses that are structured, relevant, and supportive of students’ real-world aspirations.

Blend episodic (events) and semantic (words) memory to aid in retention. More lab time, more group work, less lecturing. Everything I teach is already online somewhere.

Make learning fun 🤩 not intimidating

That learning can be fun even when it seems challenging the real fear is not not knowing the subject, but never understanding and clarifying and feeling comfortable within it

Make learning exciting and not intimidating

I've learned delivery of my content must be thorough, fluid, and understandable. Also to reinforce that they are learning stuff that will help them in the real world in a positive way.

You can't teach students if you are not excited about what you're teaching. When you show you're excited about the topic it will make them get excited. Also showing excitement about a topic will show you love what you are teaching and can make them more excited about it too. This helps them with retaining the information.

The most important thing I took from this lesson was the power of relatability and the importance of relevancy. I will definitely use mnemonic devices, to help with the difficult and essential steps to some processes. The little tricks and memory hacks build the students' confidence level and success breeds motivation.

I've learned that knowledge on the subject you are teaching is just the silver lining not the main part of the job you have to be able to engage, teach, continue education and be able to determine how to teach each individual student the way they will understand.

I have found through teaching numerous technicians in the field it really helps when u can simplify a lot of the vocabulary into relatable terms that the student is familiar with. Example a contactor, a contactor is a switch, most people know what a switch is which now makes it easier to understand and gives you a term that's relatable and something to build on. I have found that if u can simplify things to relatable terms that the student can understand they seem way more motivated to learn because things seem easier for them to understand and relate. Giving positive feedback when they learn things also seems to motivate students gives them a sense of accomplishment and they usually want to learn more. I also really like tactile things to do if u can put the terms of something into something they can hold and see it seems to help retain the information.
