students learning style is going to play a big role in what type of questions to ask and when to determine everyone understands

First understanding what your learning style is and recognize that when you teach to accommodate each students learning style.

Motivating your students is in my opinion the most important part of our job. Being able to let them know from experience gives substance to what they are putting themselves through. Knowing that the process requires dedication in addition to maintaining current life situations can be difficult at times. Providing positive reinforcement and confirmation that sticking to the process can motivate them to stay focused.

The most effective way to learn is by receiving the information and implementing what you have just learned. Providing an environment where a block of instruction can be given and the importance of how it relates to the students knowledge of acquiring a certain skill will help in them wanting to do well.

rehearse your lecture to be prepared for the real thing. Make it interactive, stop at key points and ask students for insight and questions. Use visual aids as well as actual parts or tools to pass around while you explain

The introduction to the class sets the stage for the for what is to come. There is a lot of information that needs to be sent and received at this point and should be well planned out. Being prepared will make this process less stressful, sharing your background and experience in the field lets them know what you have accomplished. Also, explain the road it took to get there, let them know you started exactly where the are now.

Being well prepared is the foundation for having a successful course of instruction. It provides structure and organization to navigate through the course step by step so that students can anticipate what is to be expected and incorporate their own plan to succeed. Knowing what is to be expected through a precise and detailed outline provides confidence for objectives to be accomplished.
