Feedback is what students I think live for- and it is especially good if, like in Canvas, you can record your feedback - it woill make it less sterile and more personal.
I like the self assement - I have used this in class before a student was handing in a project- to give some time after creating his/her video and see how they could imporve- also, have another set of eyes look at it, another student and get their observations!
Feedback is just as important as the content. Immediate feedback and instructor comments need to be specific. Whether this is constructive criticism, suggestions to further learning, opportunities for re-teaching, or all of them together will help make the student an active participant in the course verses a student who goes through the motions. Genuine feedback can easily be shown in the information written back to the student. Generic feedback will turn students away. Just because we are not f2f doesn't mean you aren't part of a class, we need to make that happen--feedback is that avenue.
Both formative and summative assessments are vital to teachers receiving an accurate depiction of student knowledge. Rubics are also important for the students understand what the expectations are for the assignment and to receive the appropraite feedback on their assignments.
Providing meaningful feedback encourages growth. I routinely use rubrics for projects but have not used a self or peer review. i will include this with the next project I assign. It goes with the students ability to evaluate their learning and goals.
I han never considered using self assessment as a tool to enhance student self-awareness.
Setting expectation is key for success. Using a rubric to make the process more objective can be helpful.
I use peer assessments and rubrics, but this was a good reminder to have the categories/criteria in the peer assessment mirror those in the rubric
I took notes on specific formative and summative assessment ideas, with those guiding guestions. I also enjoyed the specifics of a rubric. We've always been told to give rubrics and I see students' not using them. I wonder if they were better designed with more specific guidelines if the would be more apt to use them?
Feedback needs to be given in an effective manner to help the student learn and gain self confidence.
A takewawy for me is how reflective elements can be added a row to the rubric with the question.
Some interesting posts and this module have me considering the tandem use for rubrics and learning objectives. This will enable me to provide clearer and more meaningful feedback for the learner.
Rubrics provide an excellent guide for the student that they can use to help answer many of the quesitons they have about an assignment.
Providing objectives and guidelines prior to an assignment and individualized feedback after an assignment will create a better learning environment.
Feedback is a critical component in a student's learning...helping them to not only better understand the topic but it provides clear communication on how to better understand the topic.
I like the section on Peer Reviews because it is something I have never provdided in my classroom. With this upcoming year potentially being hybrid, I can think of a few ways in which I can make peer review interactive and fun.
Feedback is something that is needed and it must be timely in order for it to be effective
Rubrics should be detailed and graded from excellent to needs improvement with a correlating score.
assessments: formative, summative, self and peer assessments. Providing effective feedback gives the students valuable information to enhance their learning and performance in the course.
Assessments (formative, summative, peer, and self) should be designed with the learning objectives in mind. The assignment, test, project, etc. that are assessed should be graded based on a rubric that details the objectives and criteria, and rankings of the learning objectives. Students should be afforded an opportunity to edit and receive feedback prior to the final exam or project. Peer and Self-evaluation help in overall learning as it provides reflection opportunities and promotes agency. Finally, instructor feedback is helpful to the learning process when it is learning objectives-based, individualized, and positively stated.
Feedback is a means of providing positive reenforcement.
