I have learned that the correct type of communication is essential so students feel a connection and understand that you are there to help.  It also allows you to build a rapport with your online students, which is harder to do in this type of enviornment.

There are many technologies that can enhance the online learning experience and if used the right way can create a situation where social  presence is accomplished.  

I learned that online learning, although rudimentary, began in 1960 with the system called PLATO.  I have also learned that online learning is now on the rise and many institutions are now using online teaching.

I have learned the importance of building strong working alliances and communication with my online students, because studies have shown that there is a link to retention rates.

Critical thinking is imperative for students to learn as it will prepare them for work in the 21st century.  Collaborative is a powerful tool to help students learn how to critically think.  

Although Active Learning is a student-centered approach to learning, the instructor must ask as a "movie director" and guide the student through the learning process.  In addition, I have learned that many students are not use to this method of teaching, as a result, it is imperative that the instructor explain the active learning process.  I have learned that the one of the  "study tool"  we should help our students with is time management. 

I have learned that active learning is a time commitment for both the student and the instructor. 

I have learned the importance of active learning for the student. The student will enjoy learning, discussing, reflecting on and retaining the information because they have a part in the learning process.

I learned that you need to be proactive when designing your course for accessibility.  I learned about the many steps and useful tools to help make a course accessible to all types of learners.

I learned much about the laws that protech those with disabilities, and will make sure I am compliant when creating my courses.
