I would suggest reading "Make it Stick" by Brown.
I attempt to use multiple approaches during PowerPoint lectures to appeal to students with varying learning styles.
It is important to conduct a survey at the start of the class to understand the different learning styles. It is also important to have awareness of my own learning style and the importance of delivering the teaching material to meet the different learning styles of the students.
I have always made sure to get to know my students, their goal, characters, and preferences.
I worked with each student individually, and with exercises and encouragements, I made sure that they all achieve as best as possibly they can.
this course gave me some tools I can enhance my teaching.
From this module, I’ve learned that understanding and teaching to different learning styles—visual, auditory, and kinesthetic—can greatly improve how students absorb and retain information. Every student processes material in unique ways, so adapting instruction to include a mix of methods helps ensure no one is left behind. I plan to apply this by incorporating more visuals, hands-on activities, and discussions into lessons so that all learners stay engaged and have equal opportunities to succeed.
I learned that everybody learns differently and that it is good to cater to each style of learning.
It is important to be mindful of various learning styles and incorporate them as much as we can in our day to day sessions.
there's a lot of ways to teach a class you need to find the one that best one that suits the students
You are better able to reach all of your students by taking into consideration all learning styles.
Make sure you use a variety of learning styles for your students. Avoid using your personal preference since you may miss some of the learning styles in the process.
I know that I am a visual and kinesthetic learner, so I need to make sure that I also include the learners who are either auditory and/or written learners in my lessons each day.
This helped remind me how I had to learn things. Made me look back to see what happened to me so I can help some students like me.
This was a great reminder of all the different learning styles that people use in daily life. I have already implemented into my classrooms a learning style quiz at the beginning of each new class for them to take individually. We then go through the room and each talk about our learning styles and how best we can learn from what is being taught. This has already helped them understand how to best use their time in learning the skills for the course. As well as having them all see how we each learn differently so patience is needed when communicating with each other in the classroom.
This module reminded me how important it is to recognize that students learn in different ways. I learned more about the four main learning styles—auditory, written, visual, and kinesthetic—and how using a mix of these approaches helps reach every learner. I also realized that I tend to teach in my own preferred style, so I need to be more intentional about varying my instruction.
There are many ways of learning styles and i have noticed that visualization works well for my students
Learning styles are a combination of:
1. Cognitive: Basically, how the mind processes information to include preferred methods of taking in information.
a. Visual: Learning through charts, graphs, pictures, and other visual formats.
b. Auditory: Learning through hearing and discussion.
c. Kinesthetic: Learning through hands-on activities, movement, and direct experiences.
d. Analytical vs. Global: Some learners prefer to learn in a logical, sequential manner, while others prefer to get the picture first.
2. Emotional: Emotions and attitude greatly influence one’s learning process.
a. Interest: Learning through curiosity and interests in a topic.
b. Anxiety and fear: Intense negative emotions that interfere with focus, motivation, and the ability to process information effectively.
c. Self-esteem: Learners with higher self-esteem and confidence are often more willing to explore different learning approaches.
d. Frustration: The ability to cope with frustration can either hinder or propel learning forward.
3. Motivational factors: Internal and external forces drive the learner to learn, which goals would determine the persistence of the learner.
a. Intrinsic motivation: The learner may have the desire to learn because of personal satisfaction, interest, and curiosity, which equates to the love of learning.
b. Extrinsic motivation: Learners have goals, for example, moving up in the one’s current field, or better incoming pay.
c. Goal orientation: Learners are interested in mastering the topic or topic while other learners are interested in outperforming others in the same field of study or employment.
Individual learning is just that, and you need to be able to accommodate each style.
Blending a variety of learning styles will help the class learn better as a whole because different students obtain information in different ways.
I tend to be more of a kinesthetic learner. While reading, I discovered that sometimes I blow past the slides or don't focus on the auditory and just show. I need to take more time to go through every learning style.
By assessing the learning style of your new students, it gives the instructor the opportunity to learn how to teach differently depending on the students.
