I have been structuring the course headers (Modules) and points within and move my teaching along that path. I discuss our progress at the end of class, what is required of my students while away and where we will be starting on their return. Trying to keep the students aware and up to date.

Connect and project

 five major areas of focus:

  1. Selecting content for course.
  2. Setting ambitious yet realistic goals.
  3. Writing instructional objectives to help realize stated  goals.
  4. Putting together a syllabus that describes the course.
  5. Selecting presentation formats that maximize learning.

These are helpful tips and the Harvard demonstrations are interesting and informative

Being prepaired helps you stay engaged with your students while giving a lesson. Have a checklist to help accomplish everything you need to get across.

It is important to be prepared and ready to instruct students. You need to set the mood and tone for the course.

Great content!

Show up early to be prepared and get a good gauge of the class before it starts. Have a checklist.

Be prepared for class instruction. Beware of your students needs and methods of learning. Keep a check list so as not to forget.

Select your content, goals, Objectives, Syllabus, and presentation format for your class

Developing and following a checklist would be beneficial for organization and planning for the day as it pertains to the syllabus.

If you present a good outline that includes what the course requirements are, expectations and ultimate end goals, there will be no surprises and less stress for the learners.

Accountability and notes

I think that with this module, I can plan better and make sure to use my time management better with having a checklist available and sticking to it

In preparation for classes, looking at the class roster to ensure pronunciation of names is correct is important. I would also suggest if a pre-requisitie (DL) portion is done, review student assignment responses in order to identify what the level of the students are at entering the course in order to ensure content is at the appropriate audience level. Always be in the class before the students.

Being prepared - a checklist, PRINTED materials to reference if needed

There are several points in this module:

  • Preparation of the classroom environment
    • Is it suitable for the class and students to move forward
    • Does it have all the resources, white board, computer, etc. necessary for the class
    • Will students be comfortable in this classroom setting, for discussions, individual learning, etc.
  • Preparation of the Syllabus
    • Is it detailed enough, does it follow the University guidelines
  • Class Time
    • Be in the classroom early if possible
    • greet each student with enthusiasm
    • have a checklist!
