I learned that your teaching style comes from more than just your personality. And that it is okay that it doesn't come naturally but it means you must put in the effort to perfect it for your students.
I've learned that coming prepared before class starts and my professional appearance and behavior are going to set up my class for success.
I've learned that the best way to help students feel excited and engaged is by being excited and engaged myself by having lesson plans ready. I also will reflect on how I did and what to focus on improving.
Presentation is half the battle; in terms of how I look, how I seem prepared, and the energy I bring to lecture. All these variables contribute to classroom dynamics. Coming to lecture prepared is very important to success.
My personal mantra is to always keep learning and growing; part of mentorship of our students, which coincides with professional development, is to role model the process of learning.
I've learned that my personality is part of my teaching. How I interact with people influences how I teach students and listen to them. This tells me that I need to reflect more on how I interact with others, communicate information, and listen to their responses and questions.
I learned techniques to pair with my passion for teaching, so that students can learn in an engaging and professional environment.
Be engaging a professional. Love what you are teaching! Enthusiasm goes a long way with learning.
I learned that you teach with what you put out so teach by example , and if you have questions ask a fellow teacher they may be able to help.
I learned roles for managing, modeling, and motivating students as well as the importance of professional development.
I believe that the way you carry yourself in the classroom can determine how well your students are and showing them respect just as you would want it back
This module reinforced for me that professional growth as an instructor cannot be accidental—it must be intentional. A professional development plan is not simply a document to satisfy an institutional requirement; it is a roadmap that ensures continuous improvement in both instructional competence and compliance.
One of my key takeaways is the importance of identifying and strengthening my core competencies while intentionally expanding into areas that enhance student outcomes. For example, instructional technology is no longer optional in today’s learning environments. Developing fluency in current hardware, software platforms, and classroom applications allows instruction to be more engaging, accessible, and aligned with industry standards. Professional development in this area supports not only delivery of content but also student retention and comprehension.
The model outlines ways in which you can improve on your strengths and weaknesses. It gives an outlined approach to develop as instructor using sequential planning.
I have truly enjoyed this class thus far. There are many pearls of wisdom within each lesson, such as being committed to each student by showing you care. One should always motivate their students by reminding them of their progress and remaining supportive by creating excitement within the learning environment. Also, reflect on your past experiences as a student and what teaching style you preferred and why? What instructional style will you use? Be professional at all times with your students and peers. Dress as required by your organization and be respectful at all times. Set goals for yourself as an instructor and commit to timelines for each one. I am sure there are more pearls of wisdom ahead.
Leading a classroom is about more than just giving a block of instruction. Presenting material with enthusiasm from a position of command authority, is not about being overly strict or controlling; it is about setting clear expectations, communicating confidently, and creating a structured learning environment where students understand boundaries and responsibilities.
I learned that the smallest details can influence the direction of our influence. As instructors we have an opportunity to make a difference in all aspects of our student's lives, not just the content portion.
I have learned about the importance of and how to develop a learning and development plan for teaching. This is critical because teaching is changing quickly with technology and the accessability to knowledge. Education in the classroom is shifting to more of a curator of knowledge and application and developing thinking skills than sharing knowledge and theory. Having a learning and development plan allows you to keep up with the pace of change and the demands of teaching.
Reinforce professionalism expectations through modeling the behaviors.
Reinforced instructors as role models of professionalism, inside and outside of the classroom and how we engage with them and colleagues.
Being in class early to greet my students them as they arrive, as well as, having my lesson plan and presentation ready to go before I arrive to class is a great way to demonstrate professionalism to my class.
