I learned effective ways to solve student conflicts.
Through this module, I have learned that the online space requires time and attention to detail just as it does in face to face interactions. Many students will need to be kept on track and helped through the courses in a personalized way.
I learned that giving the student feedback through email cut down on class time also learned about problem solving.
In this module,I learned how to identify several factors that can assist in students' learning as well as keeping track of students' participation in class including: keeping course records. communicating with students, counseling students. dealing with undesirable behavior. resolving student conflicts, and minimizing student attrition.
Mediating conflict, providing empowerment, and understanding the types of learners and how they will communicate through online media for classes are key attributes of success and minimizing attrition as well.
Online learning environment is different to navigate, however I as an instructor have to provide every opportunity for the students to learn.
This module gave me practical strategies to better support my students—managing communication, advising effectively, handling disruptive behaviors, resolving conflicts, and most importantly, preventing dropout in online learning
Very good to learn about variable teaching methods to keep students involved & interacting.
I find that it is very important to be attentive to the wear and tear of the students and to see if they need anything in order to help them. With this, we will achieve greater student participation in the classes.
It is important to keep students aware of the policy guidelines for turning in assignments and provide assistance when technology interferes with their ability to do so.
Attrition from a student or students is usually caused by many factors but the main one is not being able to prioritize their activities and or manage events in their lives.
some attrition contributors are: alienation, excessive workload, competing responsibilities and or technical issues with equipment.
Online learning is not a traditional learning environment but it's my responsibility to maintain engagement and communication. However, that may be is my job.
Emails are very important for communication in online learners
I learned the way to deal with different types of students and how different online learners dont all act the the same way.
Emails are very important to manage online learning.
I learned that with online learning, email will be more than likely the most used way of communication, and being and keeping up with that will is effective for productive communication.
I learned that as an instructor I must do all I can the students, to alleviate alienation, excessive workload, competition, and technical issues.
It is important to maintain a simple but effective record-keeping system. It is also important to adopt a system for managing e-mail messages to reduce the time you have to spend responding to them. Some guidelines for managing counselling via e-mail are: Avoid promising immediate responses or advise learners to state the purpose of their inquiry very clearly in the Subject. On the other hand, it is important to be aware that there are different learner profiles: noisy, quiet, disruptors, intimidators, or procrastinators.
I learned more about conflict resolution, which should not be an issue as I was an instructor in the military so keeping everyone actively engaged, assisting with anything that may arise in their personal lives that may interfere with their studies, etc. and how important these skills are in an online learning environment
I have learned the most effective way of feedback and discussions comes from emails and how it is important to resolve all student conflicts.
