To keep organized with online teaching
Utilizing email to communicate with is going to be new to me for teaching. Learning about managing students in an online environment is much different than I had anticipated. This module gave insight into managing students in the online world versus a face to face classroom.
Its best to select email communication for e-learners. Communication with the students as a whole is best in any class type environment.

In this module I learned more about different learning styles to meet both the students needs and instructor's expectations.

Although online learning is conveinant, there is a huge disconnection that could cause all kinds of issues for students. As an instructor, it is important to not only teach the class, but communicate with students via email and adapt to their learning styles.

I believe the section on Behavior Management offered the most valuable lessons in the module. Managing learner behaviors can be challenging in online platforms whether synchronous or asynchronous. The reaction time in a face to face environment is immediate while the online platform prevents this from occurring. The only significant factor is the ability to record events when conducting an online class.
I enjoyed reading about all the different kinds of students that can be encountered in an online classroom. I have encountered examples of each kind many times over my teaching career. I think the advice given on how to handle them is useful.

Keeping confidentiality of student communication is important. Students may need counseling, however responding to student emails should be done with caution in the choice of wording, tone, and purpose.
In an online course, keeping organized records is very important. Emails are the most common form of communication between the instructor and students that need help.
Using emails is highly effective with the online learners. There are protocols that should be followed to ensure that the emails are used effectively and should have set guidelines to follow.
It's okay to not respond to emails immediately.
It's important to keep your students engaged while learning in an online environment. There are many issues that can arise for the students if they are working, have families, have issues with online learning and not enough time for everything in their day. educators need to check in and assist these students with support and referrals that can help them thrive and continue with their education and future success in their field of study.
I learned that even in an online environment the students may not feel welcomed or may struggle. If I were teaching an online class I would do my best to check up on students and see if there is anything I can do to make the class more enjoyable.
