Emails are very important to manage online learning.

I learned that with online learning, email will be more than likely the most used way of communication, and being and keeping up with that will is effective for productive communication.

I learned that as an instructor I must do all I can the students, to alleviate alienation, excessive workload, competition, and technical issues.

It is important to maintain a simple but effective record-keeping system. It is also important to adopt a system for managing e-mail messages to reduce the time you have to spend responding to them. Some guidelines for managing counselling via e-mail are: Avoid promising immediate responses or advise learners to state the purpose of their inquiry very clearly in the Subject. On the other hand, it is important to be aware that there are different learner profiles: noisy, quiet, disruptors, intimidators, or procrastinators.

I learned more about conflict resolution, which should not be an issue as I was an instructor in the military so keeping everyone actively engaged, assisting with anything that may arise in their personal lives that may interfere with their studies, etc. and how important these skills are in an online learning environment

I have learned the most effective way of feedback and discussions comes from emails and how it is important to resolve all student conflicts.

I learned that even in an online environment it is important to recognize different learning/personality styles.  Understanding this helps me to help address different potential student issues.  Being familiar with my institutions policies and procedures will give me a great foundation on how to manage any problems that may arise either due to student learning styles or technical difficulties.

The course provides an understanding of different types of students and their behavior patterns. In particular, what can complicate asynchronous learning. In this regard, there is a need to maintain interest in the students' classes. It is important to organize everything correctly

I learned about the different types of learners and how students can make asynchronous learning difficult. I intend to implement so of the strategies I learned in order to keep the class on track, while also keeping students engaged and supported. I also learned the organization is very important for maintaining student documents.

I’ve come to understand the importance of identifying why students may disengage from the online learning environment and finding ways to address these challenges. It's essential that students feel a sense of belonging within the virtual classroom. Encouraging collaboration through peer partnerships or small group work can help prevent feelings of isolation. We should also evaluate the course workload to ensure it's manageable and realistic. It's important to recognize that students often juggle other responsibilities that may impact their ability to focus solely on coursework. Lastly, providing reliable technical support is key to helping students navigate the online platform successfully.

I learned the different methods to keep the class interesting and students engaged.

I was surprised to learn that some students will pull out of a program because they're too afraid to ask for help about technical difficulties. Also, I didn't realize that students regularly intimidate instructors to give them good grades.

In this session, I learned that keeping course records is important, ideas on communicating with students, how to prepare to counsel students, the best practices to deal with undesirable behavior in the online learning environment, suggestions on how to resolve student conflicts, and actions I can take to minimize student attrition.

I did not realize that all coursework submissions have to be saved. It will be important to stay very organized.

I learned effective strategies for teaching and managing behaviors that impact classroom management.

How have you all felt the most effective way to deal with adult student behaviors and attendance abuse?
