The first step of understanding the problem really is so important. As a math teacher, most people get stuck at the beginning of a problem because they don't really try to read or understand it.

I liked the saying: "It's not about how smart you are but how you are smart." It's important for learners to know how to figure things out and it's not just about the end goal.

Discipline for both student and teacher, myself, is important. I need to know good questions that will give them opportunity to think and will be good examples for themselves.

Common sense is not so common anymore.
