methods to present a positive learning environment are very useful to me, because sometimes I can get lost in laying down the law as it were.
I believe that as an instructor, the class room is like a stage. In order to have students engaged and attentive, the instructor could be passionate, lively, and engaging.
From this module, I’ve learned that effective student retention requires a proactive and holistic approach that addresses both academic and non-academic factors influencing persistence. Strategies such as early identification of at-risk students, building strong advising relationships, and creating a sense of belonging are critical. I also found it valuable to consider how communication, engagement, and follow-up directly impact a student’s decision to stay enrolled.
I plan to apply what I’ve learned by implementing more intentional touchpoints with students, especially during their first few weeks, so they feel supported and connected. I will also use data to track attendance and performance trends, allowing for earlier interventions. Most importantly, I’ll continue fostering a campus culture that emphasizes care, accountability, and motivation to help students see the value in completing their education.
Learned a lot about how to keep the students engaged and help facilitate their learning.
I plan on catering to all generations learning styles and make it comfortable
to learn.
To create a fun, open, and supportive environment that keeps students engaged and motivated!
While students set goals to guide them to be successful in class, your job is to support them trough the class to stay on track to become successful. They will remain confident and loyal to the school program to achieve a successful experience.
The instructor is a facilitator. On top of being a subject matter expert, able to apply learning to realty because they have personally done so, the student in fact learns.
A fun learning environment is great for learning!
Students at every level deserve to be heard and have their needs met. When teachers share personal stories from their own experiences, it helps students connect and truly understand the lessons. Starting each day with a positive attitude sets the tone for better learning. The teachers who teach with genuine excitement are the ones who keep students engaged.
To always consider where people are coming from and giving them respect to let them use their real world experience to fuel their learning.
i took away that a big part of being an instructor is engagement, how can you get you students to engage with what your teaching. how can you get them to engage you with questions they need answers to that you might not have went over. and be able to retain what they taught and keep it with them because you were able to keep them engaged one way or another.
Instructors' enthusiasm for teaching stems from a genuine passion for their subject matter, a deep interest in their students' learning, confidence in their teaching abilities, a desire for professional growth, and a love for the teaching process itself. The enthusiasm is fueled by intrinsic motivation and a belief in the importance of their profession, leading to more engaged students in a more positive classroom environment. Key sources of instructor enthusiasm
1) passion for the subject matter.
2) interest in the students.
3) confidence in abilities.
4) Intrinsic motivation.
5) Professional Commitment.
6) Love of the Teaching Process.
7) personal connection.
Including the students experience and making the classroom enjoyable will help the student succeed
As an instructor, try not to be too serious all the time, students learn better in a fun environment.
I start my teaching day with a hello or a good morning to everyone. Engaging in "small talk" to ease the student into the day. Showing passion about being there for them and showing a positive attitude toward the day.
I have learned the importance of showing my passion for teaching; by bringing energy and enthusiasm, I can create a more engaging environment where students are motivated to participate and less likely to feel bored.
Try to create small but meaningful moments with all of your students and actually show you love and care about teaching.
Students like to see a passion for what you are teaching. If you seem bored or just going through the motions, they will see it and feel the same about it.
students can feed off the energy that you present. if you are not passionate, they may perform more poorly because they dont see that you value the information
