Activity

I like to rotate my delivery methods whenever possible. Let's read about it, see some photo examples, discuss and listen to experts, then practice what we learned. This approach might not work with every lesson, but I try to incorporate as many styles as possible when I can.

One of the hardest things for me in previous classes is coming up with new activities to keep the class interesting. A few minutes of distraction can be pivotal in keeping students alert and interested. Depending on the activity, it can even bring a class together and help them develop comraderie.

I can speak from experience that students aren't the only ones with short attention spans. Delivering lessons in different styles helps the teacher stay fresh and focused on lessons too.

I've used different introductory methods in the past and don't really have a favorite. But the idea of having the student put their information and hobbies on one side of an index card and their 'name tent' on the other is a great idea. It also gives me a chance to review the cards after class since taking notes during the introduction is difficult.

I really like the idea of using a checklist to help remember everything that I need to do or cover. A syllabus is also helpful in making sure everything is covered, but I feel like the checklist is more personal to what I specifically need to remember.

I believe I present myself professionally; however, I also learn from my peers by observing how they conduct themselves, continue to grow professionally, and motivate students to follow their example. I strive to apply their successful practices to improve myself in all areas and aim to serve as a positive role model whose behavior students choose to emulate.
