Activity

Look at the overall big picture. You have a syllabus, and developed a lesson plan, but students are unpredictable at times, and it is very important to adapt as you move along the curriculum. Keep them engaged as to not get the dazed and confused look after 10 minutes of lecture.  Move around. Use a variety of methods to deliver your information.

Help to calm nerves by becoming a real person to the student.  Introducing and sharing who you are and learning who the students are helps them to feel more comfortable and helps you the instructor to be better at setting up your lesson plans to reach each student on a more personal level.  It also helps them to get to know each other and have more of an idea of what to expect.

A syllabus and an outline or check list helps an instructor be better prepared for the course they are about to teach. It sets a clear outline for the student as well as the instructor.

I have always presented classroom information with the thoughts of being on stage- being prepared with my dialogue, being engaging to my audience.  Being a manager and a motivator during the performance.  Managing by keeping the audience involved in the story, and motivating them to want to know more.  Getting them set up for a finally that they will be a part of.
