being empathetic with your students shows that you care and are willing to be engaged with them. learn what their motivations are and why they are in the class

I learned quite a bit from this section-

  1. making eye contact w/the students when they are talking instead of focusing on a separate task
  2. when there is an excessive talker-assign them the role of taking notes on the key points discussed and then they will share the key points in a brief discussion
  3. encouraging students to share a learning experience in the second half of the module to not only allow them to recognize their growth but also show to their peers that this is doable and possibly trigger a new learning experience
  4. initiating a simulated crisis event to help
  5. >>>

The importance to make even the "boring" or not so exciting topics, be engaging to keep the students attentive and engaged. Making sure that when you are lecturing on a topic that you are confident and enthused during that lecture to maintain engagement. encouraging the students to partake in the lectures, can help improve understanding and maintain retention as they feel the importance of their presence.

I learned that it is important to treat the classroom like a workplace area to help provide the students with the discipline needed to have positive growth in their future career paths. I feel by working on having this type of discipline really puts the students towards success. I have also learned that making sure to identify the student's "why" for why they have chosen to join the class to be able to continue to encourage them and remind them of their reasoning to help them achieve their goal of being successful and completing the course.
