About me

My name is, Chimere A. Johnson
I prefer to be called Mrs. Chi Pronounced Chee; I attended CGTC (Central Georgia Technical College) studying Industrial Systems Technology, and Electrical/Construction and Maintenance. I have 8yrs of working in electrical on the Industrial and Utility scale (Solar). I am very relatable, yet firm. especially when it comes to safety and procedure. I am open to learning and teaching, education is two-way. I bring my field experience, along with my classroom insight to create a very inducive learning platform.

I enjoy helping others, especially when they're willing/trying to help themselves. Let's Learn and Power the Future Together

Activity

I've learned that clear boundaries are important and creating class expectations are vital in the success of the class and each student

Time management is vital in the learning process, to ensure that the intended work is completed and that there is adequate time for completing task

Connection to each student and their individual learning style. is vital to the learning process and development of my career as an educator

My 1st class meeting will be happening in the next few weeks. I have run the scenario thru my head countless times, and I am still a little unnerved. I will take the approach of each person introducing themselves and I am going to ask each student what their expectations are and what are 3 goals they want to accomplish during these 4wks in my class.

Poor Planning leads to Poor Performance. I have learned that being prepared for the class and even having wiggle room for the unexpected things that may arise will be beneficial to the success of the class and myself as a growing instructor.

Being a new instructor in the trade/training education field, I have taken a lot of insight from this chapter, and I will apply these methods to develop myself and student's environment.

Being adjustable between the two is a good skill to have, I think each individual student will need to adjusted accordingly and that may mean adjusting the teaching method slightly to reach the student where they are.

I had not heard these two terms used in education purpose before reading this chapter. I will delve more in depth into these methods and apply them to my classroom and setting and each individual student.

Bringing real-world experience to the classroom and lab, gives the student the opportunity to see that their training isn't in vain and the reality of the work world in their trade is very obtainable. Leading by example and showcasing the benefits of the trade and the perks of growing in their field, that should be a constant reminder of the potential each student has.

Students of any compacity are the way and the future, keeping them engaged and motivated is half the battle of them becoming successful and developing in their skill. building a good relationship strengthens their success rate and build confidence in them that the career choice they have selected will be beneficial and pay off in the end.
