Creating an Accelerated Learning Environment --> Learning Activities
Post what you've learned about this topic and how you intend to apply it. Feel free to post questions and comments too.
Simulation is the best way to learn, simply because the closer the experience is to the real world, the easier it is to transfer the learning.
Simulations are great learning activities for all different types of learners
Games and simulations are a large part of the learning experience
simulations are great. need a lot of preparation
As an instructor, you can tell how well your activity reinforces learning by tuning into the energy of your class. If students are engaged, they are more apt to know and understand the presented material. When designing activities, it is best to consider the different learning styles that students have.
Making sure that the activity is aligned with the learning objectives is key. I also enjoyed learning about how important it is to debrief after an activity. This is one area I struggle in and hope to improve upon.
I think using games would be a great way to keep the class motivated
Keeping the student engaged on their level is key to their success and learning. Its just like music genres, we all do not like the same music.
I learned about the importance of debriefing in the learning process. I am going to take more time to allow the student to reflect on what they completed before I give my assessment of their projects.
Having an organized LMS is vital to ensure the students progress at an appropriate rate through the material.
Games and simulations can facilitate learning. It is important to use multiply styles of teaching. Also, that instructors tend to use the style they learn best with.
I feel like learning activities helps keep the learner engaged and allows them to learn without knowing they are learning. Debriefing is important to see how the activities are accepted by the learner.
Simulations are good learning activities and help the students retain the information better. I am always trying to relate what we are learning to the hands on work and real world the students will be working in when they graduate.
The three different ways people can learn and how the balance of lecture and interaction is important.
Plan on spending sufficient amount of time on debriefing what was currently taught
Comment on Michael Taylor's post: A good foundation is what a student will be building on for the rest of their lives, so I feel no matter the subject or skill they need a good foundation.
Learned I need to incorporate more learning styles and activities into my lessons.
While simulations are great learning activities and are used frequently, I learned how important the debriefing was in solidifying what the students learned and will learn from reflection of the activity
