Individual learning is just that, and you need to be able to accommodate each style.

Never allow someone's "disability" to prevent them from learning. Everyone is capable of learning you just have to put a little more effort into their education.

patience and forgiveness is key when interacting with someone is vital to forming a bond with most people, and you have to remember that even when they have something going on that causes you to become frustrated or angry with them.

i have found that most technicians have add, adhd, ocd, and most of the times when they first come into the shop atmosphere they are either overwhelmed or intimidated due to everything that is going on around them. it just takes a little more observation and encouragement to get them tuned up and going in the right direction.

Always be open to assist someone with a disability, keep in mind what there limitations are and accommodate them so they are not left out or behind the class.

Some people with disabilities sometimes don't speak up when it comes to accommodations, and unless they speak up. I rarely speak up when something is no clearly visible and it has caused difficulties in my life that i have had to overcome. which i have learned as an adult that there are protections for me under the law that has provided me the ability to speak up and receive the accommodations i needed to do my job or school work in a more productive manner.

As a person with limited vision, a father who lost his arm before i was born, a brother with a learning disability, i have grown up understanding that some people need just a little bit of wiggle room when it comes to expectations, abilities, acceptance. To expect less from them is not the case, but expect them to maybe take a little more time or need a little more help then others is really all it breaks down to. Already having a pretty good handle on this topic i feel i will do just fine when it comes to students… >>>

coming from training one on one in a shop, its easier to learn who a person is, what they like, what sets them off and work around and through those issues is sometimes challenging, and a lot of the strategies in this section are new, and some i have already been using, to implement them in a larger group should be interesting and i look forward to growing as an instructor and will take any strategies i can to help move me forward.

i have had instructors that have utilized a few of these methods that keeps the class interesting, and brings a new energy to the class that got us through to the end and got the information we needed to have to move forward. looking forward to my future and how i will implement these various stratigies to keep the class focused and interested will be a challenge but will be a fun one.

i took away that a big part of being an instructor is engagement, how can you get you students to engage with what your teaching. how can you get them to engage you with questions they need answers to that you might not have went over. and be able to retain what they taught and keep it with them because you were able to keep them engaged one way or another.
