Activity

Focusing on motivating the students to succeed is just as important as expressing excitement for the field.

use a mid-course boost of encouragement to keep students engaged.

Start class with a lighthearted story related to the topic, allow students to contribute to the story with their own experiences.

This will allow students and instructors to build a rapport and ease into the learning environment.

take a step back and look at the class from the students perspective.

Do we have all the supplies and materials needed for our students to succeed?

If not create a plan to guide the students through until sufficient materials arrive.

keep students engaged by using 10-15 minute lectures. use the addition of guest speakers, videos, and other supplemental materials.

On the first day of class we should set clear expectations for the class, aswell as learning the students names.

Give the students a brief overlook on your past experience so they can get to know your background, and have a sense of confidence in their instructor.

proper planning of class material and lab supplies will help you achieve a smooth start to class.

I have learned that the classroom is for learning and not teaching. The priority of the class is the students learning.

positive thinking goes a long way, you must believe in the students and they will in return believe in themselves.

debriefing is the best way to retain knowledge from the lesson.
