Students in online courses feel more comfortable when they know that they are being supported, and this can lead to a successful online experience.  As long as you have the same goals for the course, instructors can take different approaches and have different methods to reach the goals. It's important for students to be able to easily navigate the course.

Primary support falls at the feet of the instructor.

Variety of student support options based on modality is essential for success

I understood there many different ways of teaching and student learning. That as an instructor you will need to try different things to keep the student learning. Communication in different ways might help different students. Also don't allow students to go off in a different direction keep them on task of the modular at hand.

In this section of the course, I read about how I must have a full grasp on how the learning management system works as well as how I want to/am expected to teach the learners. I would like to have the same relationship with an online class as I would with learners in a traditional setting. Because my course is set up for me already, I have to find ways to make it more personal and a better fit for my students.

I learned that it will be easier to access assignments and grades quizzes for students. I also learned how the structure of the courses are done, open discussions, and the manner in which the content is delivered. I will apply it by being able to navigate through the system to allow me to communicate effectively when it comes to all content online.

I have learned that it is essential to tailor my communication style to people I am speaking with. Although it is somewhat innate, being cognizant of this will help to ensure I am using this skill effectively.

"Different instructors are likely to take different approaches to teach toward those goals." I think it is important to note that there is more than one way to reach the goals of the class. It is important not to compare yourself to another instructor's style. You should be true to your own style while ensuring the goals of the course are still being met.

I learnt that various ways to facilitate the courses to enhance learning. Students are at time intimidated by the platform, helping the students with an overview of the platform will be beneficial

I love that this comes with a lot of support for the student and instructor

I found it fascinating that 55% of our communication is through body language, while only 38% of communication is through voice tone and 7% is through words. In my future interactions, I aim to be more mindful of my body language to improve communication.

Learners gain a higher sense of confidence when they know that both technical and instructor support is available.

I understand that being able to navigate a CMS is just as crucial as completing assignments. Students cannot learn effectively without a minimum of technical skill and that, as an instructor it is my responsibility to help them with that.

I learned that it is important to prepare your course and make sure it is set up so that not only you can be successful but your students can be successful as well. If you know how to navigate the course it will help you be able to help your students be more successful.

To be knowledgeable of prerequisite courses that ties into the modules I am teaching to make a connection for the students. Update post as necessary.

I’ve learned that in this section it is important understand how the e-learning works and how we as instructors could be of bigger support to the students and their comfort level.  Learning that communication is key and becoming very familiar with the system and how it works.

Online instructors should be well versed in the policies as well as the CMS, and need to be able to answer questions for students new to the system.

E-learning needs to be designed to be engaging as much as possible, and monitoring and feed back from a learning leader that is not AI is crucial or a student would easily become board and burned out. With the self paced isolation process.

All good information. Most of this was review from grad school for me (Adult/higher Ed). Great course.

The importance of non verbal cues in communicating effectively.
