Be prepared, be on time, set the example. You are responsible to learn the "prescribed content".

In creating the course outlines and lesson plans you are not only helping the students understand what they will be learning and practicing but also allowing yourself to effectively prepare your day to day lessons with ease

Have a checklist. Good resource for writing syllabus and objectives.

 

Check lists are not over rated and coming in early will help me feel prepared.

By jotting down supply needs, calls that need to be made about financial aid, etc., you will save yourself much grief when later you are trying to remember what you said you would do for a particular student." 

When I read this I thought this is a great idea!  I sometimes will not remember all the request from students or items that I need to do after class; having a pad and writing it down saves much brain power.

 

 

I have learned to prepare and to take notes even during the class that I am teaching. I plan to review my course material and arrive early to better my chances of making the class as effective and as smooth as possible.

Come in early. Being prepared is is key.

 

Additional steps must be taken for you to meet and even exceed the expectations placed on an instructor role. Notepad/device to record student needs, making sure you interact with the students in a way that reassures them you are an approachable person, learning their names, and putting in the extra effort to really create an inviting and safe learning environment.

 

As a retired military person, watchi8ng the video reminded me of how we viewed time in the military.  If you have something starting at 11  and you arrive at 11, you are late.  Showing upo early gives you anm opportunity to meet the students and to make sure that you are prepared for class.

As a IT professional, I am very familiar with checklists.  This module reinforced the importance of using checklists and it helped me to better understand how having checklist can impact me as an instructor.  Going forward, I will ensure that I create meaningful checklist for my classes.

Be selective on the supplemental materials you choose to include in your lessons. Pick the ones that truly adhere to goals

 

it is very important to make sure things are planned well and that the students know everything that is expected of them by having a well detailed syslabis

 

Have a solid syllabus that shapes your class and expectations for your student.  It's a contract between you and the student.  

Also, be specific with objective to guide outcome measure of learned activities during the lessons.  

My goal is to implement more NBCOT questions into every lessons from the beginning to develop the continual expectation of understanding content to licensure asessment.

 

It is important to have a well constructed syllabus in order to create a clear outline for the students and for yourself.

 

Planning and preparation are crucial to success as an instructor.  Have objectives.
