Three major rolls educational processes played by instructor's of their students. * Model, * Manager, * Motivator.
Key ingredient in students success is the instructors ability to develop rapport with them based on mutual respect and personal support.
I think that continuing education or conferences in order to improve my skills is my biggest take-away.
Be prepared, be organized, be EARLY. But also, be flexible, be open, and be humble.
Model, Manage, and Motivate, along with having a professional development plan.
In this module, I have learned by being an instructor it is important to act professional. Do not teach with arrogance and acting as if I am the smartest in the classroom. To make sure I teach with enthusiasm so the students can stay interested.
Learning is the most important thing going on in the classroom; not teaching.
Lead by example! If you want to produce professionals, you need to be one!
Being humanly human with a professional attitude and demeaner with your students.
The essence of effective teaching lies the conveying information with an impressive demeanor rather than a sophisticated attitude in the classroom. This sense of confidence enables an instructor to embody the roles of the role model, a facilitator, and a motivator for learners. Professional Development is also critical element to be supportive of continuous teaching skill enhancement.
It is important to be professional and set up a good example for my students. Be an effective communicator and an active listener.
Model, Motivate and Maintain Professionalism
As a new instructor, to give myself grace and also be ready to learn new things and adapt.
Be an example and model of professionalism!
Being a “Model, Manager, and Motivator” is a new concept for me. I have always known to act in a professional manner but never thinking about how this 3 in 1 model can really change the way students see you as their instructor. If someone were to ask me prior to taking this course how I viewed being a “manager,” I would have immediately just thought about all the ways the instructor is responsible for taking control over the class. I never thought about all the things that need to happen prior to the class starting and how those responsibilities can really impact the tone of the class.
This module emphasized meeting students where they are and ensuring our professionalism is not synonymous with elitism. I found the section about the 5-Cs to be beneficial. I resonated most with the idea of being committed and clear.
Teaching encompasses your personality, the needs of students, input from others, needs of the facility, etc.
Comment on Bor Her's post: agreed. by acting the smartest, you show how non-intelligent you really are. This is the best part of learning.
I really enjoyed the contextual learning definition as that defines what i try to do!
A healthy balance of humility + confidence are integral in the makings of a personable instructor !
A good reminder to reflect and re-evaluate going into every new classroom.
