Be prepared, organized, and great with student engagement.Don't do long lectures, instead do shorter lectures around 10-15 minutes.Make sure to be engaging and very informative during the lectures.

Practicing your lecture and demonstrations before your actual class and using different lecture styles that will be suitable for you and the students to learn best fit.

One of the most practical recommendations I took from this module is the idea of keeping lectures to around 15 minutes. I found this approach to be especially useful. Short, focused lectures help maintain students’ attention and make it easier for them to absorb key points.

When students see that the lecture is organized and purposeful, they tend to participate more actively. In contrast, longer lectures can often lead to fatigue and disengagement, making it harder for students to stay focused and retain information.

This strategy not only improves student interaction but also encourages us as instructors to be clear and intentional in how we deliver content.

I really like the idea of starting the class with a statement or question that gets the students attention and provokes thought.  The many content delivery options provide a variety for you, the instructor, and the students which helps with attention span and interest in the topics being delivered.

Comment on Richard Razzone's post: I couldn't have summarize this in one concise statement as you have here summarized. Nice work Richard.

In summary I can just say from reading this lesson that humans have a very limited attention span of 10-15 minutes and can retain only up to 5-7 instructional steps. So, with these ranges working in my favor the odds are greater at missing more of the material that is planned for my presentations. Therefore, learning must be in fact highest quality material selected and presented in such a conversational way that prevents over saturating my students with a barrage of facts that will simply not stick.

Addressing my students directly by name once they come into class and starting class asap is a very good practice to stick to. Once they sit down to work independently or in groups will reinforce the study material and aid in retaining the subject matter. This will guide them to new level of understanding concepts about the subject studied and most importantly about themselves and how that can reshape their world outlook.

I learned that adults have a shorter attention span and that you need to adjust they way you deliver the content in order to make sure that everyone has the ability to learn the most effective way.

The more prepared i am, the more that my students will hopefully learn.

preparation and flexibility are paramount for an affective instructor.

Practice and being prepared helps in a teaching situation or classroom as well as in many other areas of life.

I learned that if I am prepared for class, and to get to know them then it helps to show the students that they are important to me. I learned that if I break the material into small sections at a time, it is more digestible. And to try to teach to different styles of learning to be sure all students can be given the opportunity to learn. And finally, offering varied modes of learning will keep the students engaged and excited.

Through this course, I’ve learned valuable strategies to ensure my classroom runs effectively. I now understand the importance of starting each day fully prepared and making myself available to students both before and after class. Greeting students at the door helps set a positive tone. Additionally, I’ve learned that lectures should be kept to around 15 minutes for maximum engagement. If a longer lecture is necessary, it’s important to break it up with short pauses or incorporate activities that reinforce the material covered.

Practice the demo before class.

I have learned that lesson plans keep you focused on how to prepare for each class session.

It is important to practice the demonstrations before class so there is a lesser chance of things not working or identifying issues before the start of the lab/demo.

Demonstrations and labs are important for learning, just make sure to practice them ahead of time to make sure you teach and do the demonstrations effectively

The topic covers various methods of student engagement, including problem-based learning, case studies, computer-based learning and interactive lectures. These approaches aim to promote deeper understanding and accommodate different learning styles, increasing student engagement and skill development

Put students to work right away in small groups or individually. After a demonstration, the students are excited to try the procedures or tasks themselves. Get them to the activities immediately. Immediate use of newly acquired knowledge is always effective.

student lectures should be 10 to 15 minute short and should be practiced and prepared for good delivery as well as variable to relate to every student from front to back row

Smaller bites of lecture at 15 minutes are shown to be more effective for student engagement, interest, and therefore learning potential.
