Activity
I learned the 4 Os. Objectives guide learning, organization structures content, ownership empowers students, and opportunities foster interaction—together creating a purposeful, engaging, and student-centered online learning experience.
I learned teaching strategies that promote student engagement, establishing clear expectations, and the effective use of synchronous and asynchronous learning methods for student success.
This module emphasized the value of organization, clear guidelines, and aligning teaching methods for both synchronous and asynchronous, with course objectives to support student success.
I learned that the tool needs to be chosen based on the ability of the tool to deliver the material to the students, to increase engagement and collaboration to make the learning more active.
It is important to start with safety and confirm that the safety instructions are understood. Safety in the lab should align with that of the industry that the students will be working. The first thing that I will do is discuss the alarms and exits, even when not in the lab there should be a safety element in lectures.
The grading rubric is a great tool to set the expectation for assignments both for the student and the instructor. It also provide transparency in the assessment process.
I learned that not all students prefer to learn in the same manner and that there are four categories of learning styles. Having a variety of methods of providing instruction will increase the engagement level and learning.
I learned that clearly defined objectives in lab/shop environments improve instruction and assessment. Competency-based objectives should engage cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains, aligning with Bloom’s Taxonomy.
Support material, notes, and assessments are essential for reinforcing learning, guiding instruction, and measuring progress. They ensure students understand key concepts, help instructors stay organized, and provide evidence of mastery.
Learning objectives must align with job standards. Instructors should understand and apply current industry standards to ensure students gain relevant, practical skills. Teaching materials must reflect real-world expectations, so learners become proficient and prepared for the workforce. Staying updated ensures instruction remains meaningful and effective.
