Developing an assessment plan is important and balancing both formative and summative assessment in your course will provide students and you with the information about learning that is occurring. Formative assessments should be embedded in instruction and designed to improve the course learning. Summative assessments, should be designed to prove learning by a form of a test, project, prestation, or demonstrations.

Using self and peer assessments for student assignments, helps develop their skills for evaluating their work and others work. It also helps in providing constructive criticism.

I've did both assessments throughout my college years.  I found them to be very helpful.  We would also use these assessments in our study groups to help see where each others strengths and weaknesses are.

Using rubrics will help to standardize feedback so instructors are able to relate feedback directly to course objectives.

I like the idea of having peer reviewed assignments for the class. It would help them consider how well they examine and prepare their assignments.

An assessment plan and a corresponding rubric set parameters of what is to be acheived and how it effects scoring of results.

Used to be constuctive criticism, now it has changed to this format. Now self assesment gives the student a second look at their work.

Rubics have grabbed my attention.  It did not occur to me as a tool used to increase student involvement, especially student-to-student.

Providing feedback is important. Feedback can help students learn more effectively.

Providing feedback to the students it's crucial in their learning process. It wil help them know where they can still improve and where they actually got better or put their knowledge into practice.

Providing feed back is essential, i see students have good outcomes when I include consistant feedback.

Peer-assessment is very interesting, must be with anonymity so that the stucents are honest their review and may include more comments. Without Anonymity, students may not provide not honest review.

Adding feedback that is individualized for the student, will be a source of learning.

I realized that peer-reveiw was a part of our normal in-person classes as we worked together in the lab, and it is a piece missing from the online experience that I will work to reintroduce into our remote environment.

Key components of meaningful feedback include the following. The feedback provided on assignments/projects should be:

  • connected to learning objectives
  • frequent
  • positive in tone
  • automatic, if possible
  • provided in a variety of ways:
    • written peer or instructor feedback
    • auditory
    • visual
  • individualized
  • specific and detailed

These are important facts in the online learning.

great for of compretitive motivation for students to asses themeselves with peers for self motivation

Be more in tune to continually assess students and give feedback across the board.

Frequency and immediacy of feedback is critically important.

I intend to make use of audio and visual feedback. I can see the benefit of using these as opposed to just text. I do provide meaningful feedback but I do see the value in taking my feedback to the next level.

In giving feedback, asking questions to guide further inquiry or to correct frequent problems that still exist with the student's work can facilitate improved learning. Also, providing two columns on rubrics, one with a self-assessment and another with instructor assessment can help the student understand how to independently make their project better.

I never considered the use of rubrics in regard to each specific, objectivew. I' m anxious to try that in the next oline class.

I like the rubrics and will continue to revise them including adding a section about what areas did you struggle and how many areas would you change in the self evaluation.

I learned that objectives must be part of the rubric.
