It's important to have a clear standards listed on a rubric so students know exactly how they will be graded and what standards they must live up to. I personally never liked peer grading--I did however, benefit from peer review before I turned an assignment in.

I think meaningful feedback is always useful for connecting learning objectives in specific details as long as they used them the proper way by giving the studentsthe pernitent information to help them to develop their knowledge and skills.

I like the concept of one-minute papers. It compels the student to be brief and gives the instructor insight into where each student, and the cohort, is at set points through the term.
Feedback on students work is crutial in helping them learn. Peer review feedback helps students learn from reviewing their peers and seeing how they completed the assignment and where they could have improved their own assignment.
