It is important for distance learners to feel supported throughout their studies. Support comes not only from the instructor but also through reliable technology assistance. While every instructor may have a different teaching style,the common goal remains the same:to help students gain knowledge and retain what they learn.
I have learned the importance of instructor participation/acknowledgement in the class discussions forum online.I would like to implement this to evaluate how much engagement I may receive especially from my student who may be nervous to ask questions.
There may be some challenges that students may encounter with online learning, such as technology issues that must be corrected by the IT department. Students will need to be patient for issues to be corrected. Also, maintaining a timeline of when assignments are due, sets expectations for students to complete the assignments in a timely manner. Having various ways to deliver the material will help to reach different types of learners.
