I didn't realize there was so much the instructors were in charge of during online classes

Setting up the course and knowing the specifics of the material is key. Making sure you can navigate the CMS will help you assit the students when they are having issues.

Providing sufficient structure when coordinating e-learning is vital to the students success. Ensuring that there is plenty of support both for learning and technology components. Frequent announcements and communication throughout the entirety of the class shows students you are available, present, and active. It also creates a forum for students to ask question and get clarification. Having clear requirements and expecations will also aid the student in successful completion of the course.

Online teaching involves much preparation.  Being familiar with learning modules and content is very important.  Making sure students are aware you are there to support them is key to them being successful learners and having proper technical support is a must.

Creating an intuitively structured Course Management System that presents clearly defined learning outcomes is the first step in producing a successful On-Line course.

"Quality online courses engage the learner in meaningful learning activities that promote the achievement of the desired learning outcomes."

So far, I have learned that online courses require attention to student performance and alternative methods to provide formative and constructive feedback that may present differently in an in-person class. Responding to student inquiries in a timely manner is very important. Technological issues can present frustrations for students and may be unpredictable in nature.

That it is most important to maintain above average online communication so as to keep the students involved in the course.  With that being said, familiarization with the CMS is key. Understanding how is to navigate will not only increase my ability to teach but it will also increase my ability to ensure the students are learning.

To ensure the best learning environment for students, a facilitator must review the LMS, course content and connect with students.

I intend to meaningfully engage in my student's learning activities as well as try to add some personal experience with the material so they can also understand the context of the material as well!

I have learnt how to set your students for success while attending online courses, and that your help as an instructor as well as the technical support are the tow most important factors for these students. This lesson also sets the skills an online instructor must have.

Understanding the online techniques can help give the students a better understanding the the current course content.

be familiar with CMS and the support you need

Teaching online has its advantages and disadvantages.  Using online resources, with assist in the teaching, sharing ideas, and promote student learning to a higher level. The instructor can set time limits, testing, video learning to integrate in the online teaching. It will be beneficial to know the CMS and the availability of learning tools to enhance teaching.

It is important to become well versed with the CMS being used as it will better equip me to assist the students.

We as instriuctors need to have full understanding of the platform. The orientation phase can resolveany issues and prevent students from getting behind in the course.

Complete understanding of the manner in which content of the course is delivered. Assurance that students can access to the course content. Understanding the objectives and grading structure.

Providing high quality content elevates students learning.

One of the things I have learned through this module that I intend to utilize are the Peer-to-peer learning opportunities provided through the Performance Groups created within the Career Ed Lounge,

All instructors must become conscious of the needs of the learner. I once worked at a school where the instructors were students for a course before they could start teaching. It was a way to remind the instructor of what a student experiences.
