Activity

I learned in this course that I will have to have a good set of notes/list of talking points for my lectures so that I can avoid reading directly from my lesson plan.

I learned how to have the classroom prepared so that when the students start arriving I can greet them and start to get to know them from the beginning.  I also learned some exercises to help them get to know each other and also to get to know me.

Prior Proper Planning.  This lesson taught me that being prepared starts with the development of the syllabus.  What I am taking away from this course is that I need to study the syllabus, dig into the teaching strategy I want to use, ensure I have the classroom materials and get to know my students before they arrive.  I can make sure my individual classes have checklists so that I don't forget any of the material that needs to be taught.

The soft skills is something new to me, but it makes complete sense.  I intend on using what I learned in this course into how I interact with my class.  I also plan to put together a development plan to go over with my leadership.

This module taught the importance of having everything ready prior to going into the classroom.  As a new instructor it emphasized the importance of knowing the material, knowing the expected outcome, preparing notes, and knowing how to conduct the assessments.

I realize that understanding the taxonomy of learning will enable me to develop my lesson plans, objectives, and standards.

This lesson covered the planning, formatting, and organization of Lesson Plans. Not only is this important for when I am teaching but also important for when I turn it over to my replacement.  This will ensure continuity in the lesson.

This was a good review of how to prepare for upcoming classes.  One can be super prepared and then once they get to know their students they may have to change their gameplane based on the students knowledge level of the topics being taught.

I learned about testing and how individual questioning techniques can be used to for something specific.  This could be knowledge, memory retention, and skillset development.

I learned about the Classroom Assessment Techniques and how I can use them to do knowledge and comprehension checks, wake up the class and just to change the mood or stimulate learning.
