This to me overall teaches the importance of emotional intelligence and helping students retain what’s being taught
In the retention of the student is very important and use the tools suggested.
Understanding students' goals and help them to achieve. Recognize and celebrate their success .
I will always aim to create a conducive environment for learning understanding that each student has different learning needs
Share career experiences with the class
Be creative and make things fun to learn while creating a positive learning environment.
I like the idea of learn apply, learn apply.
Get to know your students. Engage them and show your enthusiasm for the topic.
What I took away from this section is the importance of learning your students' needs and you are can really set the tone of the day with greeting them all as the enter class.
My experience in this trade will help them learn the skill in this course.
Creatively engage the students so that they develop a sense of purpose and belonging, which will aid in their success.
Comment on Christine Crist's post:
I love seeing the light bulbs come on in clinical as students see what they have learned in theory played out in real situations.
I love hearing about the importance of student participation and recognition. I also appreciate the thumbs up for humor. Next year will be 50 years I have been a nurse, 20 years I have taught nursing. There have been many humorous things along the way. Each student has a file of humorous or more serious memories that are important to share some of.
Create an environment in which the students are comfortable and treated with respect like human beings. The teacher should also learn the students names and try to present the information in a way that is fun so they are enthusiastic are the subject matter.
Create self-improvement goals for yourself that will help you develop enthusiasm for your profession once again.
I picked up some really useful tips regarding how to keep students engaged in class
and improving the human side of teaching by showing students that you care and willing to provide support when needed
I learned fact that I thought to be interesting. It is stated that 60% of student success is based on the respect they have for themselves.
I learned that it is extremely important to keep the students engaged and to look forward to the next class. It is alright to have fun in class and have group activities, but make sure that the students do not become too competitive with each other. This could cause some students to feel inadequate and left out.
I love opening class with a fun activity. These "ice breakers" really help you to learn who your students are as people and not just as learners. :-)
I teach them how to interact properly with LLMs to learn. I show them the wrong way to use LLMs and how that damages their learning. So they come to class telling me the stories about how they interacted with the LLMs and I comment specially regarding the weaknesses of LLMs and sometimes the strenghts.
The idea of grouping older and younger students together is a good one.
Be excited about what you are gong to teach and teach with enthusiasm.
