try to engage each student with positive acknowledgement of there participation and encouragement them to learn
I plan to introduce multiple learning strategies for all of the different styles of learning my students need. I will do my best to challenge them without making them feel discouraged so that they will retain each lesson.
Never, ever take yourself too seriously. Remember the purpose and build those relationships. Be self-depricating if needed, and don't be a know it all. Dad jokes work well, try to be hip, but don't be hip. These are all ways for students to connect with you as a real person.

From this module on General Strategies for Student Retention, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the factors that contribute to student persistence and the best practices to enhance retention rates.
Key Learnings:
Importance of Engagement: Active student engagement—both academically and socially—plays a crucial role in retention. Students who feel connected to their peers and instructors are more likely to stay.
Support Systems: Providing robust support systems, including academic advising and mental health resources, is essential for helping students navigate challenges.
Feedback Mechanisms: Regular feedback from students about their experiences can help institutions identify issues early and adapt strategies to better meet their needs.
Application:
Enhancing Engagement: I intend to implement interactive teaching methods, such as collaborative projects and discussions, to foster a sense of community and involvement among students.
Strengthening Support Networks: I will advocate for the establishment of mentorship programs that connect students with advisors or upperclassmen who can provide guidance and encouragement.
Collecting Feedback: I plan to regularly solicit feedback from students through surveys and informal check-ins to assess their experiences and make necessary adjustments to improve their learning environment.
By applying these strategies, I aim to contribute to a more supportive and engaging atmosphere that encourages students to remain enrolled and succeed in their academic journeys.
I have learnt that every student has the right to feel secure in the classroom or lab. As an instructor, I must ensure that all students are included during the lesson. The first step is knowing their names, this helps to build rapport with the students.
Some great ideas that I will be using in my classroom.
I like the reminder to the students and the instructors that they carry the load. They drive the course and discussions on what we need to review and spend more time on.
I try to be enthusiastic with my teachings and make learning fun so that students want to continue to come to class.
It is always important to be enthusiastic and have fun in class
Be creative in finding ways to engage with each and every student. The course should be fun while still reflecting the career path. Lead by example. Create positive and welcoming environment for learning material as well as positive interactions with peers.
I think it’s important to find ways to make learning fun and different. As a new instructor, I look forward to shadowing other faculty to see and learn different teaching styles and how to engage with adult learners.
i get to know students and provide modified learning methods that work for them specifically
Wow! 15 to 18 minutes...that is all? The time you have, to make a difference, in the way someone might grasp the information that you are instructing them on. This information speak volumes along the lines of supporting your students in their pursuit of learning. Preparation; command of the subject matter at hand; and classroom management are three focus points that an instructor has to learn to use properly.
This to me overall teaches the importance of emotional intelligence and helping students retain what’s being taught
In the retention of the student is very important and use the tools suggested.
