I don’t think I provide enough encouragement (vital for motivation and retention) so I need to find ways to build that into the course, both for online weeks and in-person weeks.

Keeping students engaged and motivated from one class to another, Instructors must understand that each student has a different learning style. Retention and keeping individual students focused in the classroom is dependent on the instructor to understand and being able to adapt to deferent learning styles and techniques for each student.

When you know your students you can get the max out of them in a learning environment

My takeaway from this lesson was to be mindful of the student's path to my classroom. Everyone is on a journey and there will be challenges that they face from outside influences that will impact their ability to fully engage. Adult learners carry so many responsibilities and taking on a new role as a student can be stressful.  I plan to be empathetic and provide a classroom environment that brings value, stability, and provides a structure where all can feel valued and appreciated, no matter if they are a more experienced learner or just out of high school. The goal is to maintain that drive to achieve the education required for a successful career, that will provide more stability to achieve that self-actualization.

I learned that seeing how multiple different people learn can show you how to teach better and the diversity in understanding how to do things whether its more hands on or more schooling and studying. Its very important to find ways to relate and get along and get to know them so you can understand how to approach and what's going to work for said person. The most important thing to me that I've learned through this is to make sure absolutely no one is in fear intimidated or feel less than you truly never know what's going on in anyones life.

I've learned that understanding student characteristics and goals before diving into the academic material, knowledge retention is far greater than expected.
Applying more effort on identifying student's background, career goals and aspirations, I can effectively integrate activities to help grow their skills and accomplish diverse learning methods.

I learned there are different ages and types of people taking these courses. As an instructor its up to me to try and use the best instructional methods for each student to achieve the best learning environment.

It is important to identity very early in the course why students are enrolled in school. It is also important to identity the different type of challenges students maybe facing that may interfere with their learning. Lastly, it is vital for students who have just finished high school to learn independence and responsibility regarding assignments and not be coddled.

I learned that motivation is the key to their success.  Keep them aligned with the program.  Help them understand the importance of topics in curriculum and how it relates to testing and O&P  so that they can get past the government hurdle and understand basic rules of the FAA so that they can proceed to next level of being a aircraft mechanic.

i learned about engaging and motivating the class. different experiences motivate different students of all walks of life.

To effectively support the class, it is important to start with strong motivation and build individual connections with students. Moving forward I will continue to adapt my teachings to adapt to student's needs.

I learned about different ages, backgrounds and paying attention to the learning environment for the student to be successful.

No matter how many times you have taught the same class there is always the potential to learn something new. Also always keep a close eye on the students and see if any could benefit from extra help.

Being flexible and truly conneding with students of all ages will promote their success. It is critical to build connections to keep students motivated and engaged in the course activities.

I’ve learned that being flexible and observant allows me to better connect with students and support their success. Moving forward, I plan to apply this by paying close attention to how students respond to instruction and adjusting my approach to meet them where they are. Building those individual connections can make a big difference in keeping students motivated and engaged.

In order to efficiently help the class as a whole, you must start out with a strong level of motivation to keep them encouraged. You must take the time to know each student a little better individually to ensure that they are given the most helpful focal points of studies if necessary. This also helps you orchestrate the class smoothly knowing each student's strengths and weaknesses. Keeping the students involved and creating a plan that the students can relate to keep them engaged and a lesson to reflect from that assures every student that they are indeed gaining the knowledge they need to be successful.

Diligent observation with an eye toward each students strengths and needs can ensure a broader success for the class, and individual student, if the instructor is mindful about what those needs look like and provide the students with resources as simple as patience or encourgement.

It is important to learn what your student's motivations are for seeking future education. Is it their field of choice or did they pursue it due to other reasons such as financial incentives? In addition to learning their motivations, it is helpful to learn what their view on education and how their previous experiences shape how they view the learning experience.

As a teacher, it is very crucial to understand the classroom diversity in terms of students' need; students' expectations from teachers, peers, and of the classroom environment; students' acceptance, validation and recognition; students' disability awareness/need; and students' methods of learning.  Understanding such diversity of the classroom allow teachers to practice what type of behavior to model, how to demonstrate a lecture, additional support and instruction needed, how to group students for 100% productive and engaging discussion etc.

It is vitally important to not only get to know students, but it is also vitally important to meet them where they are. The life experiences of adults, teens, and young adults are vastly different, and the instructor must be aware of these differences to effectively facilitate learning. Additionally, I learned the importance of the surveying the learning environment prior to instructing students; I never considered surveying the classroom environment from a student perspective. Additionally, I learned how to better manage student and instructor relationships by avoiding getting roped into student conflicts with other individuals and/or departments. Maintaining professionalism is key!
