Be professonal with students and peers
You must be a model, a manager and a motivator. Love your students and your material.
Lead by example in my demeanor, dress, and communication.
I learned that as an Educator I must be a teacher, manager, and a cheerleader all in one. Also, there is a different between soft and hard skills and it is important to prepare students for both.
Be a great leader, and be positive to show the students to be positive.
The importance of modeling, managing and motivating. Also, the importance of projection and professional as well as communication.
NHM
Lead by example. Also how to be a friend to the students but not a pal.
I have learned so much from this module! I can definitely see how my time management issues in my one teaching position before undercut my credibility with my students, and I need to give myself more time moving forward to be better prepared so I can be on time. I also like the idea of developing a professional development plan that is big plan but also takes into account that I am a first-time classroom instructor with a lot to learn just in that arena, and it's ok to focus there and then expand outward once that is more settled.
Be an excellent role model.
Hello , I've learned to have timeless accomplishments. Clearly creativity and interpersonal skills are vital.
Educate, Equip, Encourage (and model it)
to Educate the students, I need to be educated on the subject;
to Equip, I need to be equipped for the lesson (prepared, examples, Q&A, etc...),
and to Encourage, I need to be encouraging (even when I am exhausted, not "feeling it", or going through challenges)
One way to identifying a instructional style is to look at your past instructors.
As a new faculty member transitioning into a new profession as an educator/VN clinical instructor, I am excited to expand my knowledge through the art and science of teaching. My goal is to help our students improve their success and opportunities in a fulfilling career.
model by my own behavior what I expect in class. Manage by example of my time in lecture and answering questions so students learn skills to help them in their career path. Motivate with classroom progress and goals that have been achieved/
Remaining professional in ALL aspects of teaching. I work with students in a earn and learn program and sometimes it can become a little relaxed. Keeping professional and focused will help me in these situations keeping the teacher student dynamic.
As educators it is important to be professional and model behavior that you would like to be exhibited by your students. Also, making sure that your students are actually learning and that you adapt your classroom to the type of students you are teaching. Not all students learn the same way and adjustments need to be made accordingly.
I learned that developing a professional persona and establishing leadership in the classroom is highly important. On top of this is to be compassionate and fluid in your teaching styles and go with the ebb and flow of the classroom. My aim as I begin instructing is to always be analyzing my style and the material and cultivate the most successful approach to assist student learning and motivation. I am excited!
You are the instructor & leader but that does not mean you have to outsmart everyone. Be human, admit faults when there are some. Be professional but also be a personable leader for your students.
As a previous instructor, I learned that the more prepared for class and the students, the better class was enjoyed by all.
