I am finding this course to be very interesting. Understanding how certain personality traits align is very interesting.
At first, I was feeling that teaching online was going to be difficult due to outside distractions (life, kids) but with the skills listed in this module, I do feel better prepared
I learned that each course can ebb and flow which will require revisions. I have to be considerate of my 'audience" and give them a fighting chance to succeed.
Feedback is necessary in the instructor/student relationship. Constructive feedback with positivity is key.
I have learned that even though it's an online format for teaching, that it still requires instructor input, more so than in person. You can still have an "in person" feeling despite the format being virtual.
Having the template available but having the ability to tweak it as you begin to understand your "audience" is key.
I learned the importance of allowing time to 'chat" before and after a synchronous class discussion.
This course is laying the groundwork for establishing a good online presence with your students and interacting in a professional manner
I have learned that if I am not proficient and knowledgeable during the online courses, then my students will feel the same.
Understanding that mistakes are simply that...mistakes.
