Time management is really huge and can't be assumed, but should be taught and supported.
I learned to help students to stay active learners.

I am evaluating my role as the online provider; however, I my students need to do more to make sure they are living up to the seven expectations of online learners. I will share this with them and periodically ask them to reflect on their adherence to these guidelines.

I learned that setting expectations of the students is very important through online learning.
Staying active and engaged with students is an important task of the instructor.
Please do not use the same comments for the students papers. They will talk...you will feel silly. Example, one time I called 3 people Steve...ugh.
As in most, if not all online classes, procrastination persists. Time management is crucial in helping to meet and/or exceed deadlines. Incorporating communication of all due dates on the syllabus and giving this information to students on day one may be extremely beneficial for students.
I've learned that it is important to set the expectations about time management for the students. In order to implement this, I could tell them the expected time it will take for them to study or read the material, or I could remind them not to procrastinate.
I plan to establish the expectation of contact from the beginning of the course. I won't tacitly dare them to prove me wrong, but I will find a way to say that if they don't know how to get in touch with me and haven't talked with me via email or LMS in weeks, chances are they will not be successful in the course. We need to encourage contact -- not in a parental manner -- but in a manner that allows students to see us as vital resources for reaching their goals. That requires connecting their goals to the content.

I really value providing prompt feedback to my students that is meaningful and delivered in a positive tone to allow my students to feel as though they are listened to and that their success is important to me also.
Student and instructor engagement is vital for a student success.
I learned the importance of creating tips for time management for students, encouraging them to give themselves at least 2-3 hours a week on assignments. Also to setup a calendar with due dates on assignments so they do not procrastinate, constant communication is key, also using netiquette tan acceptable way of communicating online.
I learned that online courses are a way for students to work at their own pace, meeting each deadline set by their instructor.
I learned the importance of helping students set realistic life goals and connect course content to those goals so they see its value beyond the classroom. I also found that netiquette and time management skills are critical for online success, since respectful communication and effective planning directly affect student motivation and performance. I plan to apply this by modeling professional communication, providing clear time management tips, and showing students how their coursework links to their long-term personal and career goals.
