Knowledge I attained in the module include: 1) Transferring content from F2F to online is not only about tranferring, it's about transforming the content to fit the online environment. 2) When modifying course content for the online environment, think about the fours O's of course design. They are: a)Origin b)Organization c)Orchestration d)Outcomes assessment. 3) I've realized the importance of developing student engagement strategies. 4) Consistancy in online course layout is a key tool for communication.
Getting over one's fears of facilitating an online course seems very important to me. I am also intrigued with the notion of increasing student participation through pre-structured prompts and activities.
F2F is not just a transition to using the same in online format, it requires transition, testing, and revision. I am going to explore Web 2.0 more.
Planning out the contect in an online content is important to a successful online course. Consider the 4 O's or your course: Origin, Organization, Orchestration and outcomes assessment. Plan for student engagement and recognize the presentation of a tradition will be altered to fit the online course with articles and web content.
There are 4 O's to follow: Origin, organization, orchestration, and outcomes.
It is important for instructors to have a consistant and easily nagivated layout for their course content.
Consisent layout and organization is critical. One of the hardest things for students is to acclimate to new things. If you and your colleagues are all on the same page in how things are laid out and delivered, the sense of familiarity for the student can go a long way.
Organization and look and feel are important to a class to build predictability. You can't just import lectures to an online environment. A mixture of synchronous and asyncrhonous communications are often best. Check often for student engagement from all students.
This lesson identifies key componenets of transitioning from F2F classes to online. Course layut is of upmost importance. Students need to be able to quickly locate what they are looking for. The means by which you relay information are important. You can use a physical textbook, but you must convert it to online in a captavating fashion.
Organizatio, communicating and given feedback is very important when it comes to the students. It's a great way for all of us to learn.
Teaching and Organizing a Virtual Learning Environment --> Online Course Content Transfer
When creating an online course the key is to take the time in developing your online envirnment, make a list to ensure you have covered all components; whether your course syllabus, easily navigational, learning goals, etc....
I need to be organized and personal (Present) with the online enviroment. Keep in close contact. Communicaion is key.
Es muy importante la organizacion de material para el estudiante asi sabra en que momento del dia adicional de la clase virtual pueda entrar y hacer tareas.
This module taught me about the correct way to deliver content online, how it is bery important to be organized as well as to adapt the materiasl from F2F to the virtual environment.
I have learned that transfering a F2F class into an online class is challenging and it is a major adjustment for students and instructors. It is important not to take your F2F lectures and implementing them into the online course because they decrease student engagement.
I have learnt the different ways to use to transfer a F2F course to an on-line course, the 4O's, engagement strategies and providing on-line content.
My take away is that it's easier to develop a new course rather than transfer a F2F course and that communication, engagement, feedback and modification are very critical in on-line teaching.
Blogging may be an excellent form of communication and learning. Modules are a excellent way of organizing students materials and documents.
Facilitators must organized the course content to be user friendly to optimize student success.
Unfortunately, it seems that administration who have never been challenged with teaching and/or creating a class online seem to think it is just a matter of transferring the information/material instead of transforming it!

There needs to be a lot of consideration taken into account when moving a class to an online setting.
