Thought this was a good tip: Sending a welcome letter to students or posting it on the online course site at the beginning of the semester is a great way to start the online course off on the right foot.
Make sure to follow the 4 O's when designing your course and use as much different ways to communicate as you can, but make sure it's used with a purpose.
A high quality course should be well organized and easy to operate. Students should be able to clearly understand all the components and structure of the course. In addition, the syllabus should clearly state the role of online environment in the whole course.
Just like in this course, I find that all material is organized in the same fashion for each new topic; functunally consistent throughougt. This is essential for me to navigate, avoid frustration and thereby have success. An online course easy to navigate is one that is well-organized. So, I want to take the time to thank those who structured this course.
I previously had to do this going from face to face to online and this take a village to complete including the IT and LMS teams, faculty and students. The students eyes are a great help becasue they catch things we may miss. This is no easy task and nothing is perfect you have to constantly update and revise as you go through each course. Knowing what works and does not work helps with this process. it is truly a very tedious job that is ongoing and while some institutions may think it can be done overnight or in a mattter of 2-3 weeks they are sadly mistaken. There will be alot of inconsistencies and error. One thing to keep in mind through all of this is the student and although we have to adapt to change we do not need to adapt to UNNECESSARY change.

Platforms like these courses are a great place to explore and learn new techniques and methods
It is important to plan carefully what to include in our online course. We should learn to explore the different technology tools that is in our disposal to enhance student engagement. Also very important to communicate with students from the beginning of the course until the course has ended in order for students to feel that they belong to the class and improve student engagement.
Delivering a successful online course is founded upon consistency. Using the four O's approach can facilitate the instructor in constantly evaluating the course and update according to their style of teaching, most recent technology, and student needs.
Conistency and layout are important. Don't make things complicated because you can. Don't use a bunch of bells and whistles if they will distract from the content and learning.
the importance of content structure and delivery is uniquly important for online course and takes a different attetion to detail
I learned of the importance of being organized and maintaining the module structure to decrease student distraction from the actual course material.
Ongoing assessment and evaluation are critical to success, because all teaching innovations need to be tested in order to validate academic outcomes and benefits.
By providing a clear and comprehensive outline of course material, establishing effective communication including viable feedback is vital to creating an online learning platform.
You should model your online course after a normal in course/lecture to keep students engaged.
I love the discussion of how much of an impact a welcome letter and best wishes letter can provide. I will be sure to always implement these in my courses.
I really like that this module focued on the key point that learning tools must match course content and teaching style. Having already launched several online courses, I could not agree more that it is essential to be organized when teaching in both asynchronous and synchronous instruction for student success!
Know your students. Stay consistent. Don't make it too complicated!
I am going to incorporate more self-reflection this upcoming term, something I encourage my students to do. I really want to focus on gathering student feedback and compare them with outcomes so I can constantly revise the course.
I'm always astounded when I read about nursing education concepts that continue to return me to "what do I want the student to learn?" Remembering the focus of what we're doing is vital for best student outcomes.
