I learned that it is important to facilitate student’s journey toward critical thinking and problem solving in an active learning online course.

I learned that it is important to take into account the class size, cost, and limitations of the physical environment when planning active learning lessons.

I learned that peer review (peer criticisms) can be helpful feedback for planning and executing an online active learning lesson.

I learned that online instructors should act as guides, helping their students throughout the full process completing an assignment.

I learned that there are a variety of tools you can use to help successfully build an online course. You never want to “start from scratch”.

I learned that it is important to include student feedback while you are evaluating what changes may need to be made to a course.

I learned that it is important to consider the pros and cons of synchronous and asynchronous learning when designing a course.

I learned that it is important to understand how a tool works before you integrate it into your online course. If you don’t understand how to use the tool, then it may result in confusion for the class.

I have learned the importance of utilizing multiple resources when designing a course. To apply this knowledge I will incorporate information from the most up to date peer reviewed literature into assignment and lesion designs.

I have learned that when developing a rubric, it is important to include learning objectives. To apply this in an course, I would make sure that the feedback provided is specifically tailored to provide a student with tasks that will help them to learn each objective.
