Connecting with students is important to building a good rapport and allowing students to succeed.
One way is listening, not overpowering the conversation, and being available when needed.
I learned how to create healthy relationships with my students, how to enact my authority in a non-condescending way, and maintaining my presence while not dominating the conversation.
It is very important to mentally prepare yourself to provide adequate attention to students with honest, complete and accurate answers, even when the answers are not known; It is also important to monitor communication between students and regularly participate in discussions in the chat

I learned the importance of being present and learning about my students and for them to know me in order to help them learn effectively.
Relating to students is important because it reminds them that they are in a class working with other humans and not just technology. I can relate to my students and establish authority simultaneously by providing a short biography of myself. I think posting a video format of this is effective because the students can see my face, hear my voice, notice my nonverbal body language, and recognize me as a person rather than a picture on a screen.
What i learned from this section is the importance of making your presence known, so students may know you better and start to build the respect on previous achievements and qualifications. As well important for students to present a bit of who they are along with the instructor so a form of relationship can be built. This will lead to further trust and confidence in the whole process of learning as a whole.

When starting an online course do a discussion ice breaker. Introduce yourself to the students, while at the same time inviting them to introduce themself to you and other students in the class.
I learned that telling students about your credentials is important but I also learned that telling students a fun fact about yourself can make you seen more human. This is important because in an online environment, you need to make sure your presence is felt even if it is not an in-person class.
Establishing yourself allow students to understand and have insight to where they want to be as a medical professional. Posting, including hobbies and such, opens pathways and helps builds confidence in your ability to teach and control as you would in a in person classroom.

I have learned how to create a student- teacher relationship and establish an open and positive learning environment. I think it is a great way to establish my presence by letting the students know my credentials, but also let them know about some things related to career, hobbies and how it makes a difference in the lives of others. It can go a long way to help the students.
I will encourage students to provide their short biography on day 1 of the course. After 1st day I will send a welcome email to each student. I will provide my short biography as well.
Providing students with your background and a small list of hobbies can help build a confident instructor/student relationship. Setting your expectations is very important for the student.
