Comment on Robyn Parker's post: Online learning is a new experience for many students and instructors. I think introducing yourself with the bio and picture will be very helpful. Having the students do the same is a great way for the class to get to know each other and for the instructor to begin knowing the individual students.
I learned the best ways to get my students to trust me and my experience, how to make them feel supported, and how I can ensure to have a good instructor-student relationship.
Mentally preparing myself to project my presence online and make sure that I’m giving them the best of me.
Students learn best online when they feel they are supported, have one-on-one interactions, and the instructor becomes more personal with completing a thorough biography/picture on the course.
Re-emphasized the importance of developing professional relationships with students
I am reminded that incorporating the personal with the professional can be an effective pairing when relating more to students and making the material more relevant to their lives.
It is important for students to be aware of your credentials for teaching the course, but also not to get too familiar. Students should feel comfortable asking you questions regarding in field experience. Be sure to keep regular office hours listed frequently.
Provide an open and welcoming environment, online to the students for a great outcome on particcipation.
fostering personal connections and understanding among students in an online learning environment can lead to unexpected and enriching collaborations
I learned an effective way of projecting your presence and expertise in the online classroom is to write a brief biography of yourself. The biography should include educational credentials, achievements, and professional experience. I intend to have my biography prepared and posted, along with a welcome message, by the first day of the course.
In making yourself, as an instructor, more "real" to the students, one aspect this module missed was having a video of you speaking to them as though you were in the classroom, embedded in each slide. You can do this easily in PowerPoint.
Instructor and student relationships are important and having a professional profile will help validate your qualifications to the students. Being able to share with the students like that is a great way to help them feel comfortable with you and can help them learn from you
What I’ve learnt: our active presence becomes an essential component of effective teaching, particularly in relation to complex subjects like mine (blockchain and digital currency). This is the reason why:
Increasing Student Engagement: Students are more likely to feel interested and involved in the course when we actively participate in it. Our presence has the power to turn a static online experience into a dynamic educational journey.
Developing Relationships: Consistent and significant communication with students facilitates the development of closer bonds. This promotes transparency and trust in the virtual classroom in addition to helping with academic advising.
Building Community: Students are more likely to engage with each other and the material when there is a strong instructor presence, which promotes collaborative learning and a sense of community.
Maintaining Course Value: Our active participation raises the course's perceived worth and legitimacy. Students frequently confuse course quality with instructor involvement.
Finding and Fixing Problems: Being present enables us to quickly find and fix any problems, whether they have to do with the subject matter of the course or concerns raised by the students.
Encouraging Persistence and Accountability: Our involvement can inspire students to stick with their learning objectives, particularly in an online environment where self-control is essential.
Building a strong online presence is crucial for creating a sense of community and engagement in your virtual classroom. One effective way to achieve this is by sharing your biography and inviting students to do the same.
Projecting your authority and presence and establishing a teacher/learner relationship in the classroom include practical strategies such as connecting with the learner via email and attaching a brief bio.
As an online instructor, one must know how to influence and inspire students.
The use of effectively finding ways to begin building an e-learning community with students is to ask students to post a short biography of themselves.
Ive learned that students kmowing about your educational.back ground helps them learn who you are helps build that relationship of trust and also let them build a biography of themself and read about there peers as well help them know they have students here just like them and who relates to them..i plain on making sure i follow the chsin of comand so everything goes smooth
You dont have to dominate the conversation to project your presence to the class in online education.
