Activity

Relating to the students with your experiences can be very helpful. Also understanding their perspectives will be invaluable toward student success.

Keeping students engaged was the emphasis of this section. Different methods such as scenario building, crisis simulation, discussion questions are suggested.

Create a fun learning environment.

I would say empathize but don't sympathize. Understand the student's needs, complaints, etc. but don't waste too much time on getting absorbed in the problem too much. Also understand how the different age groups differ in learning styles and perspectives.

Use different methods (e.g. slides, demonstrations, lectures). Rehearse if you going to do a demo.

Let students know your background. Get to know them. Use pre-tests to inform the students regarding the course requirements.

Get an early start, be prepared, use checklists.

Lead by example in my demeanor, dress, and communication.
