I learned that there are many ways to encourage and motivate students with learning disabilities. We may need to make certain changes to our processes, but not because the students with disabilities are less capable, only that they may need some different tools or techniques to ensure their success.
I have worked with students who have IEPs. When working with adult students, I will discuss their education history, whether they had an IEP, and what supports helped them.
Educators can create an inclusive learning environment that meets the needs of students with disabilities, enabling them to reach their full potential.
This lesson help me understand how to assist and identified student w learning disabilities. How to help students w difficulties on the areas of reading and comprehension.
I appreciate the section on dyslexia and the illustration given as to how they see written content. My stepbrother has dyslexia. He is super intelligent. I understand his world better.
People with learning disabilities are of average or above intelligence, though they may be behind in development as a result of their struggles to learn basic academic skills. Knowing this as an instructor will help me to better guide my students when they have a learning disability (for example: providing them more time for particular assignments, asking them what support has helped them in the past)
Educators of students with learning disabilities, require the right approach with knowing, and understanding the type of disability and challenges to learning.
Students with learning disabilities are just as capable as students without them when given the proper tools and resources to be successful.

Evaluating the students for different learning styles and disabilities is key to helping students be successful. I will strive to assist all students to their educational goals. Working with students who have learning disabilities to determine what strategies and accommodations are useful to them will help the teacher and the students to be successful.
apply assessment before implementation, find out what the students need before taking action
Since students with learning disabilities are not covered by the law after they turn 21, I think any accommodations made for them should be made for all. This will keep them from being stigmatized when other students find out they got special accommodations, it will keep any drama about it out of the classroom, and it's just plain fair to everyone.
Very useful tips on how to help students with learning disabilities. Have any techniques helped in the past? Auditory or visual enhancements. More time.
One thing that I learned from this section of the course is that ALL students are capable of being successful with the proper support. One good thing to ask students with disabilities is how they were able to be most successful in the past. What I have found in my teaching career is that sometimes students with disabilities do not feel comfortable advocating for themselves. One student that I have had in the past who had dyslexia had an easier time if I printed my work for her on a colored paper! What an easy fix; I just had to know.
Student self-advocacy is talking with instructors and letting them know the nature of the disability and how it impacts their learning.
There are many ways to accommodate students with learning disabilities. This can be integrated into the classroom and testing environment. One simple way to accommodate the testing student is to allow them extra time on an exam. Another method is to put each question into a box so that the student is less likely to become distracted.
Great information regarding types of disabilities and how to recognize and support those students.
