I learned that with the correct support students with disabilities can be successful in the course

Working with learning disabled is your chance to assure your material is accessible and fluent to all learners. It assures what you are doing in the class is inclusive.

Working with a student that has a learning disability, it helps the instructor to know what the disability is and what has worked for them in the past as far as assistance

Is important to know when working with  a student who has a disability talk with the student about any instructional support that might be needed.

getting to know the students who have learning disabilities can help you prepare and plan for their future to succeed

A lot of this information was just a recap for me but it was definitely helpful to review.

Many of the accommodations presented are easy to provide and, in my experience, students with learning disabilities are highly motivated and resilient individuals.

Do not lower requirements, but provide accommodations

The section about how to help the students with learning disabilities is very helpful. It makes more sense to understand the students.

Some students will have various learning disabilities, and to best help these students succeed it is helpful to know what supports have worked for them in the past. Some students may need a little extra time for taking tests, while some students may need to listen to lectures again after having recorded the session.

After reading this section, I am pretty sure that I have dysnomia. If I can work through to be an instructor- I believe I can help my students work through any learning difficulties too!

Students with learning disabilities are often of average or above-average intelligence and can thrive academically when provided with the right support. This module emphasized the importance of offering accommodations such as extended time and open communication to understand each student’s unique learning needs. As instructors, we can create inclusive learning environments by recognizing strengths, encouraging self-advocacy, and implementing proven strategies tailored to diverse learners.

I love the point that most people with learning difficaulties are usually above average intellagence.

"By the time you have figured out what the words are suppose to be you will have forgotten what the sentence said." This sentence was really helpful, As I had not realized that I was able to separate the words but didn't comprehend them until I read the following translation sentence. It was true that my mental energy was needed to separate the words and make sense of the sentence and comprehension didn't happen at the same time, so re-reading it would have been more helpful to me, which would have needed more time.

As a teacher/instructor AND a parent of a daughter with learning challenges, effective instruction to those with learning disabilities is a cause that's near and dear to my heart.  It's imperative that instructors work WITH students to present information and materials in a way that the student can learn via the "path of least resistance".  The goal is not to lessen the work requirements or lower the bar, but to even the playing field.

This module helped me understand the importance of equity, accessibility, and individualized support in the classroom. I learned that students with disabilities benefit most when instruction is inclusive, flexible, and focused on their strengths rather than just their challenges.

My husband is dyslexic and I learned so much in this module about how he and other people with learning disabilities learn best.

I like that we can encourage a student with disabilities to share what worked in the past to help them learn efficiently.

Students with learning difficulties can be successful with support and more time.
