I learned about the five areas to focus on for teaching success;

Selecting the right content

Setting good goals/ motivate

providing written instructions to get to said goals

Selecting the right format

Forming your teaching style

Coming into class early and learning students names in essential. Having a clear objective set when class begins and fulfilling all objectives by the time class ends to set clear expectations each day.

As a new instructor: Prepare, Prepare, Prepare. Use resources. Have a checklist.

They gave very good reasons to be overly prepared with things like lab supplies and a notebook and pen.

Get an early start, be prepared, use checklists.

Being able to establish instructional objectives in order to accomplish the four components points.

A. Audience (Better understanding of the entry level of knowledge and skills the students posses).

B. Behavior (Balancing the students skills and development that is required for the course).

C. Condition (Considering the rules and procedures for students performance working inside the labs).

D. Degree (Calculating the level of proficiency required for the work required).

I learned how important it is create a syllabus and course outline. This will set students expectations.

preparation for your students will have a big impact.

The importance of setting the tone, have a checklist as a check and balance. Learned why a well developed syllabus is vital to the success of the student and how the course is perceived.

NHM

I know that my institution standardizes many of the components discussed in this section, so it is even more important that I master the elements I can such as knowing my content and textbook well, preparing for class and arriving for class early, making a checklist (which I love checklists anyway, so this is no hardship for me) so I don't forget important topics or steps, and keeping a notepad handy for new issues/concerns, etc that come up during class.

Being prepared and having a teaching plan are essential to student success.

Be clear, organized, keep current on subject matters with people in the field they are studying for real time results.

Preparing and the ways to develop course outlines, syllabi, and generally keeping track of what needs to be done. There is so much going on the first day or days it can be overwhelming.

The instructor should be mindful of the objectives and information that need to be covered.  Making notes and having a clear path of what you want to teach keeps u on the right track and helps to remind us of what important information is needing distributed to the class.  Always prepare ahead of time.  Learn your students and what they need.

Being prepared will help improve your class.

The more prepared an instructor is, the better every class will be. Every day is a new day and the ability to strengthen your confidence as an instructor.

Taking notes on different topics that students have questions about. Note taking can make you a stronger instructor so you can improve your presentation.

Make sure expectations for the class are set on day one & continue to be followed by both the student & instructors throughout the whole course

Be prepared for the class. List books and covered information in the syllabus to give clear directions to the students. Make yourself a check list to refer to so that everything can be covered in the class.

To have your Syllabus prepared and finalized.  The students will have more of an understanding of what is expected of them.  To be prepared for anything that could possibly happen.  Have a list of what needs to be covered that is not completely covered in the syllabus.  Have a notepad handy to jot down thoughts and ideas to discuss.
