Activity

One can not over communicate. Especially with e-learners. Be positive and engage often.

I have learned that Synchronous discussions are best in smaller groups. The engagement is a bit more benificial for the students.

Since my students see me in person I give them my bio verbally. I think it would be nice to add that to canvas just so the students entering have that information.

Also, regarding projecting one's authority online as an instructor was helpful.

Understanding the ins and outs of our CMS will help be support my students both technically and academcally.

Try and hit the variety of learning styles as well as being as prepared as possible with a lot of preplanning.

A good first impression will leave a lasting impression for the students for the rest of the term. Always take the time to get to know the students and that the students feel safe to get to know one another. A comfortable classroom produces success.

Preparation, a checklist, and arriving early are foundations of successful classroom management.

Modeling professionalism by being on time, well groomed, and having instructional content ready is key in being an effective instructor. Being prepped with knowledge of content being presented as well as classroom agendads for the day will keep the classroom engaged and on track,

Your written tone is very important when it comes to communicating with your students. Always be positive, affirming, and available for your students.

Communication and retention through technology is very important in today's learning environment. Understanding and facilitating a sense of community with online students is just as important as creating that same environment for your F2F students.
